I recently had a tidy and clear of my toolbox and yesterday I decided to take some af and whitworth spanners( for younger readers cars used to be held together with af and whitworth nuts and bolts .

So as I had time on my hands I thought I would have a go at making a clock.

You do now know that Sod's law will now kick u right in the arse and you'll need one of them shortly.

Other than that cool use for a clock in your man cave

I had to look up Whitworth threads -I know AF, guess that makes me a youngster.

Fun clock though

Af is head size ( across flat ) whitworth is thread size there's loads of different thread in metric and imperial guises. Jam jars even have a specific thread

They use loads at my work (well the fitters do)

Im a sparky

As i work at a 1950's powerstation thats going through decomissioning all the bolts confuse me

From what ive seen theres

Whitworth

AF

BA (think thats the electrical, you have 0BA 2BA 4BA etc

BSF (but im guessing thats just a thread size)

God knows it pickles my head!

So my favourite tool is an adjustable spanner :) fits everything

Bsf is bs but a finer pitch. Same as metric and metric fine.

I've got some ba spanners but they are really small .

I could try and make a wrist watch with them .

GET A DAY JOB!!! HAHA

that looks cool buddy at least if you lose a 19 or 17 spanner youve got a in your face back up haha i did this with old porn cards and marvel comic cards looked nuts

I remember years ago working on an old eight legger Foden tipper, AF nuts, imperial nuts, and all sorts, it was a complete mish mash where it had been kept on the road and all sorts had been used when it came to replacing parts. As mentioned, the only useful spanner in that case was a big adjustable. And a big hammer. Oh, and the gas axe :D
