Anyone had an MGBGT?

Featured Replies

I am looking to get a RWD toy to play on weekends, not looking to spend a lot of cash, i have been looking at possibly trying to get an MGBGT, has anyone here had one? What are they like. Or could you recommend something similar for around

I think that Nick the old fella has got one.

its an orange one isn't it :D

Who Nick? Nah, Nick's normal fleshy colour. :D

I haven't had one, but i did look into getting one a few years back. What i was told is you'll need to sort the suspension out. It's a pretty basic, old fashioned system on there, lever-arm dampers and that sort of stuff. I think Spax do a kit that improves things a lot.

Spax do do a kit. Whether it actually improves things or not, is another matter.

Fasterbaby - go for it. You really can't go wrong. If you want to PM me, feel free. I've owned two now (admittedly the first one only lasted 6 weeks). Spent half of today pottering about on the current one. Such simple engineering - it really is a joy after modern incomprehensible wizardry.

Thanks Nick, i will PM you regarding things to look out for when i get rid of my track bike. Did your dad flog his TR7? I had one 20 years ago!! Showing my age now lol... looks a nice example though.

MY dad bought one, but when he went out the next morning there was only the tyres left, everything else had rusted away!

OK, I'll get my coat...

I used to have one and it was a little slow, used to get blown away by MK111 Cortinas  ,how about a Monza GSE rwd, lsd, discs all round, straight six bulletproof motor,5spd getrag box or auto  0-60 approx 8.5 and max about 136 and a lovely straght six howl........yes I am biassed as I ran one for 3yrs

They are not quick, it's true. But they are good fun.
