Black Grille Surround on Blackline

Featured Replies

Hi

I am looking to get my chrome grille surround vinyl coated matte black on my new Blackline and wanted to know if I also need to get the grille done as well? The grille is a dark matte grey so it may look a little odd having the chrome coated matte black but the grille left dark grey.

I have been quoted £40 but I think this is just for the surround not the grille aswell.

BTW, if any one is looking for a new grille and surround, this place can't be beat for price and service.

Thanks

That grill is nice...never seen that before. Shudda used it on mine

Unfortunatelty it doesnt look like that. It still has a chrome surround and the grille itself is the standard matte grey. But for a brand new grille delivered on Monday afternoon after ordering on Saturday night for less than £55 I can't complain!

Are you wrapping the new one and keeping the original to one side ?

The plan is/was to just wrap the new chrome surround and then put this on the orignal grille as the orginal has the Vrs badge on it but then noticed the grille is dark grey rather than black which got me thinking whether the grille should be wrapped as well?

At £55 for the grille and surround I thought I may as well buy both and have a spare.

Thanks but buying that would put me out of pocket even more....I already have bought the new grille and surround so would end up with three if I bought that as well. Having two allows me to go back to the orignal at any time as well.

buy some matt black paint and paint the whole lot yourself?

I read painting doesn't hold up to chips too well and it can be quite time consuming removing the chrome. I have looked at plasti-dip but by the time I have bought a can of that it works out at close to £20 and I though wrapping would last longer and give a better finish.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has balcked their surround and whether or not they left the grille or blacked that as well.

Sell the one you have bought and purchase the one i posted a link to. I think that is made from black ABS so will never show any chips or scratches as its not a coating but the material is that colour. No messing and perfect finish. Everything else will be a faf and be a risk from chipping and scratching of the surface coating. Don't forget that's 99 euro's aswell not sure of the exchange rate but it still works out cheaper assuming you get the same £55 as what you paid for the other one.

Thanks for the suggestion but not sure I like the one you posted as much as the original. I like the skoda badge and also less 'vertical grilles' on the original.

Me too but i think if you have a look on that site you can get one in black abs that has the badge holder manufactured to the same OEM specification.

Must have seen it on another site then ill try and remember where its located.

Cheers - that is exactly what I want if you can find it.

Sorry, but I am not sure how to paste a proper link. The following site http://www.skodateile.cz has replacement complete RS grills for the FL for 60 euro's which I think is about £55.00. Worth a look.

I got my chrome grille surround wrapped gloss black for £25 didn't do the grille but here's a picture

what colour wrap would you choose for a race blue car?

Cheers Iain

Just what I needed to know. Now to try and argue down from £40....but suspect down here in the south east I will get fleeced!

I like an all black grille biggy7 had a race blue pre facelift octy before the blackline and had black badgeless grille from superskoda on it and thought it looked cool but its a very personal choice but remember when you get it done the wrap isn't bulletproof had a few stone chips in it make sure you've got a touch up pencil the colour you get it done looks terrible when you can see the chrome shining through if you are unlucky enought to get a stonechip in it but its easily touched in
