Skoda bonnet badge removal

Featured Replies

My bonnet badge has delaminated, I think it must have had a stone chip then water, then frost.

Can anyone tell me how the badge comes off at the moment it's looking like the grille has to come off then the badge.

Thanks in anticipation.

put a screwdriver down the side of the badge and pop it off.

IIRC I think I did the remove from behind the badge, poked a screwdriver through from inside the bonnet.

Its just glued on so get something behind it and lever off. Careful you dont scratch the paint though. Would help to get a hairdryer on it first to loosen the glue but its not entirely necessary.

Got it no problem.

I used dental floss to get behind the badge and then cut through the adhesive pads.

Then it's easy to pop of.

New one on order £14

Job done.

£14??? I just did mine this week due to the same issue, and it only cost about £10 inc vat from skoda! Admittingly I did get the new style badge but still......

Take the grille off as the badge has the pins flattened behind.

Once you have the grill off use a sharp blade ( carefully ) on the flattened pins to free them.

Then slot some Dental floss between the badge & the grille and use a sawing motion to cut through the sticky, the badge will eventually come away.

The sticky left behind will rub off with finger or thumb.

Once all the sticky has been removed, use nail polish remover to remove any residual glue from the grille, wipe down with warm cloth & dry.

YOu are now ready to stick the new badge on.

Cheers - any tips on how to do this easily and correctly?

By easily & correct I mean, do I just need to make sure its straight and use the sticky supplied. No need to apply any adhesive or sealant. Oh and I ordered mine through the dealer and got 2 of the parts coded 601. Will these fit okay to a 2012 estate

Just by a briskoda sticker, cutround the circle and stick it straight on...:-)))

This exact same problem has happened to me? does anyone have a part number so I can tap it into google?

Cheers

Hi

I think the round badge number is 3U0853621B and the description is "Skoda Sign".

Cheers

To remove the grille-

Open the Bonnet & remove the torquxe screws from the inside of the grille.

Brilliant tip from my son - Use a socket ( 6 /7mm) & insert the plastic clips onto the socket firmly to push so it start to close the clip, & gently insert a cloth covered small flat head screwdriver or similar in the gap that starts to show & pop the clip, work your way around the grill repeating the unclip process. and the whole grille comes away.

Each clip will make a loud snap as it releases, & if you're not too rough you shouldn't break any clips.

Hope this helps - above actions done by vrsSunroof with assistance from me.

Just completed this little job today, thanks to the various posters for the tips.

I think lfc958 must have some industrial strength dental floss because I couldn't get the badge to budge with any amount of floss 'sawing', however on a positive note the grille now has a not unpleasant peppermint smell about it :giggle:

Eventually a judicially placed (and padded) trim removal tool and marginally more pressure than I really wanted to apply got the badge free, and some label remover solvent made short work of the residual stickiness.

I found almost boiling water loosened the sticky foam behind the badge enough to prise it off fairly easily.
