Dim question..

How do i know if my car is fitten with xenons !, i mean do all Xenons omit a bluey / whiteish light?. Reason i ask is that headlights on my car just omit the seemingly normal coloured light, however i'm sure when i switch them on they seem to move by themselves, plus looking at the back of the light cluster they seem to have some form of transparent covers and not the black covers i've seen in many of the pictures of the headlight unit on the site. My car's a late '57' model TSI elegance and does have Maxi dot, puddle mirrors and 'auto headlight's' that come one at night, when i unlock the car with the remote..? would there be a code in the service book that indicates what type they are..Apologies again if this is a no-brainer...

Headlight washers is usually a sign, along with a non adjustable beam on the headlight switch I.e can't be moved down via a switch, all octys have projector headlights so it's hard to tell without these things

I believe if you have factory fitted Xenons then you would have jet washers for these so you would have a square plastic cover in front of each headlight in the bumper where the washer would sit below. I don't have them on my VRS but I'm sure other people will confirm this.

If you have HID's fitted, the easiest way to tell is to see what happens when you switch them on.

Normal bulbs come on and stay on immediately.

HID's give a visible, but quick, flash and then turn on, getting to full brightness in a few seconds.

Hope that helps

I have headlight washers, and a seperate headlight level rolly thingy, next to the dashboard illumination switch..

My 08 plate vrs has xenon's. The best way to tell is, start the car up at night then switch the lights on, you will then see them go up and down the level off if it has xenons. apart from washers in the front bumbper, you also have two sensors fitted to the suspension arm's, one at he front and one at the rear. the rear one on mine is on the N/S, not sure on the front one.

If the headlight adjustment roller is present next to the light switch, then you have halogens or a retro-fit HID kit installed.

I believe the Elegance gets the headlight washers as standard regardless of the type of lights fitted. The manual headlight level adjust is the key here, sounds like you have standard halogens.

It will he halogens chap.

tbh If you had HID's you wouldnt be asking the question, you'd know you had them

Thanks guy's that answers my question....:-)

these days, it seems even non-halogen equipped cars come with either the dummy headlight washer cover, or the full-kit (piping & pump).

some manufacturers just make the 1 bumper part (with washer covers), rather than one with, and one without. less inventory, stock confusion :)

as already mentioned - if u have a headlight leveler/rotary switch inside the car, then u don't definately have factory fit xenons.

all factory fit xenon equipped cars have auto leveling sensors.

on the fl octavias, a definate indication from the outside is to look at the actual projector housing itself. if it has xenons, u'll notice a cutout next to the 'octavia' lettering. non-xenon equipped octavias do not have this cutout in the housing.

its to do with the bending/dynamic/cornering functionality - AFS I and/or II

The headlight washers are not a sure sign of xenon's on the Octavia, at least here in the UK.

The Elegance, 4x4 and Scout all get headlight washers as standard with or without xenon's.
