Nice detail there and this colour certainly comes up well after a good machine polish.

Interested to hear that you used Black Hole though, any reasons why?

Sorry for the delay in responding but you now have email........... :)

I thought it would give some more depth and bling..I think we achieved that

I like Black Hole and always try to use it after a polish prior to the LSP

Interesting as in most cases Black Hole is used due to it's filler propoerties on difficult paintwork / lacquer's.

I like the 'extra' it gives ...as you say it has fillers but..thats not my primary reason for using it

All day in the sun, and the SHINE is still there! :-)

Might be an idea to see what Chris and Alan think first lol ;)

Looks absolutely cracking Wayne!!

Certainly makes me want to tackle a similar treatment on mine...if I could get it to look half as good I'd be rather chuffed...!!

I have always said that I would travel a limited distance if coming here is too difficult

Obviously the costs in fuel would have to factored in as well

Sorry Pete T...just too far mate

It was a nice idea, albeit very tongue in cheek. Hope more Briskodians within reach take up this offer B)

I kno.

All great ideas come from such realms of silly ideas drunk in pub, sat in loo with,

water dispenser etc an tongue in cheek :-)

U never know ...someoneelse coming across this thread might franchise the idea! :-)

Chris, daft question but what kind of work is involved in keeping up the standard of the detail afterwards?

Im interested in letting you loose on mine but need a bit of body work done and my wheels refurbed first...

It just a case of regular washing (Once or twice a week) and the use of Quick detailer to maintain the protection

Then top up the wax or sealer every 3 to 4 months or so

I usually strip back all the old protection in the Spring and again in the late Autumn, ready for Winter

Bill, I have PM’d you a couple of options closer to home for you.

Hi Chris

My BL is 5 months old and I treated it with AGHigh Dev wax when I got her. It's still beading but I've got a few days leave to take this month so if I get a good day I'd like to give her another coat ready for the summer. Having read so much good advice on how to clean your car as much as posible before you go anywhere near it with a mit I'm now use snow foam as a matter of course with a jet wash, use the 2 bucket system to wash with AG conditioning shampoo, MF wash mit and MF drying towels to finish her off. As the car is still fairly new and free from swirls what should I do to get all the old wax off without damaging the existing surface like you do twice a year?

I've read that if you feel any imperfections in the surface after washing by applying a little detailer and putting your hand in a plastic bag to increase the sensitivity then you should clay it first, but if I don't feel any should I still clay it anyway? Also I have the HD cleanser which AG recommend using prior to rewaxing so I intend using that too so do you have any recommendations or tips on how to avoid any common mistakes as it all feels a bit strange when I've spent the last 5 months trying NOT to rub my hands all over it!

If anyone's interested I read the other day that after shampooing and washing off the last thing to do before you start drying is use an open hosepipe over the car to get rid of most of the surface water. I was sceptical, but it REALLY does work- I've only tried it once but recon it gets rid of about 80% of the water.....

Good question. I'm in a similar position. The Yeti is coming up for 9 months old and the Collinite 476 I put on in August has now gone. It had Supagard on from new (didn't know better at the time) so theoretically that's still there having been left when I used the Collinite. I plan on redoing it with 476 over the weekend, but it has lots of tiny tar spots, particularly around the sills and lower half of the doors. So...

...I have Valet Pro Citrus Pre wash - in neater form will that do to remove what wax is left? I've nothing designed to remove tar, so suggestions would help, especially if I can pick it it up from Halfords tomorrow.. I don't think I'll be claying this time round but might have to book a tutorial with Chris and Alan for next time

And not wanting to hijack the thread I must say Audrey does look splendid in her shiny new coat. Rosso Brunello is a terrific colour in the sunshine and she does it proud - very good work guys.

Basically guys, you need to remove all products from your paintwork

I use Farecla Detox, APC and Fairy liquid. This isjust shampooed onto the car and finish with a sparay of APC

Then use a detar product like Autosmart Tardis or Valet Pro Citrus Tar remover or just Turps on a rag

Follow this with some iron X or similar to remove iron particles and then clay the car..It will be ready now for polish or sealer/wax

Hope this helps

Martin..Get yourself over here and I can do for you/ show you

I use gt85 to remove tar, costs next to nothing , effective and safe

That's exactly why threads like this should be published...to see what can be achieved and the methods and products used

Thanks for the kind comments

Wayne has been back a few times since I polished it last year for my Malaysia trip (He only lives a mile away)...Winter tyres on and off and some protection added
