Does this fin makes it really a shark?

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I'm still new and fresh to these chats and forums. However, I got a Fabia for more than a year now and trying to make it look nicer.

Recently changed the original whip aerial for the aftermarket amplified shark fin bought off eBay.

Starting to think that it wasn't a bright idea as it looks strange or even funny to me.

Maybe its just me but I like it and got those feelings.

What do you think? Any comments, suggestions?

It is covered in carbon fibre foil which I've used to cover most of the other pieces inside.

Sometimes I surprise myself how good things looks covered with carbon.

Got few more ideas but this first, please.

P.S. Please ignore state of the car. It is filthy and I know about it. Just do not have time to wash it. Lol

Here it is:

Personally I don't like them. But that's me, I opted for a short polo aerial which is about 5.5 cm in length. Smaller the better ;)

Looks ok to me :) Maybe better if it was the same colour as the car?

Hmmm... Good point.

I got lot of carbon around (chrome grill surround, front and rear number plate surround and all badges) so wanted it to match ... sort of.

Thinking of doing the handles, FABIA chrome decals at the back and B pillars so it blends in.

Thanx for comment, anyway

Maybe, if I do the whole roof in carbon, would it hide in it?

Personally, I prefer the shorter ariels to the shark fins.

Ariel-less ftw though! My last two cars have had internal ariels - so much easier to clean too.

Whole roof in carbon can look good, but depends on the rest of the car IMO.

Colour is Grey, as on the pics but thinking to plastidip it.

Wanting to get some non OEM bumpers before so it covers it and then do the wing mirrors in carbon aswell to match the roof

Hi guys I have heard to fit one of these I need a resistor, is this true or is it simply fit?

I didn't hear anything like that.

Simply plug and play aerial and off you go.

Had some problems with connection as OEM aerials have different connectors than that one.

Signal is not as great because it's shorter than standard whip but it Bob's my uncle:)

Not needed at all

If you buy a genuine vw one then it fits and works fine.

When deciding on a shorter aerial i did look at the shark fin look, but really didnt like it after seeing a few pics, ended up getting a short Honda S2000 aerial, looks really good

Fin looks great, makes me want one for mine now..

Needs to be colour coded.
