Greenline II 1.6 Elegance - chosen but questions

Featured Replies

Greetings chaps,

Being reading through the forum for the last few weeks and I reckon you have convinced me to order my new company car, I was going for the new Octavia elegance 1.6 DSG but as i'm not allowed extra's I have opted for the Superb as it has much more toy on it for the money and my little lad will enjoy the rear leg room, I also cover 50,000+ mils per years so comfort if key over speed.

The only thing I am unsure on is the ipod/Columbus set up, I presume unless I pay for the MDI then I can use my ipod classic with full control?

Am I right in thinking that I would have to either use the 3.5mm jack and use the ipod to select tracks or dump the music on the the HDD on the Columbus?

Is there a USB connector on the unit and where is the 3.5mm connector?

Lastly I have a HTC Desire S and iphone 3, any issues with the connectivity to the car?

I will be ordering the Pacific Blue/Onyx Leather as i'm a tight wad and won't pay more that I need to!! Roll on June and getting rid of this horrendous Nissan and saving some money in company car tax.

Answers would be appreciated greatly.

Best for me was put everything on a large sd card or hdd my Columbus has 3.5 but no USB. You have power issues if connect through 3.5.

Phone issues have mostly been with Bluetooth as phones usually need to be rsap well documented on here I ended up changing Bluetooth unit which may not be an option for you. Hello parrot.

Great choice of car enjoy.

If you've an iPod then you probably have your music in mp3 format. If you get a large capacity SD card, then you can just copy the mp3 files onto that. I bought a UHS-1 speed 32gb for £22. The Columbus unit can't read that speed, but my computer can load the music onto the card much more quickly, which makes a big difference when you're putting lots of music on.

My only advice is to buy a black coloured SD card so it blends into the head unit when it's in, and also to organise the folder structure so that everything is easy to find. I've set my folders up as "A-G", "H-..." etc, then next sub folders are artist name, then next sub folders are album name, then I have the music files in those album sub folders.

Cheers guys, sounds like the way to go with the card, might be able to fit most of my music on there, £185 for a connector does sound excessive to say the least, bit disappointing that it does not come with connectivity as standard.

Hoping I can get Bluetooth sorted on the phones as I don't want the parrot system the GSM III should be able to sort this

Yesterday I took delivery of my new company car, a Superb Elegance Greenline II (saloon to avoid the VAT) and I already love it. My works phone is an iPhone 4 and I also run my own mobile which is an iPhone 5. Both bonded with the car immediately (not at the same time), no issues at all. You have full call history and contact details. Don't know about an iPhone 3.

Today was the first proper time out. Three adults, a child and boot full of stuff from Bradford to Meadow Hall (Sheffield), a journey of 46 miles each way. The car returned an average of 72mpg going, and 59mpg getting back cruising at 70mph on the motorway. We were all comfortable and the driving is a dream. Don't forget to have a Disney DVD in the glovebox so you can keep the kiddies happy when mum leaves you waiting in a Matalan car park for that 'quick' visit! The Columbus plays these too.

I wouldn't advise you of one car over the other, just that I think everyone on here knows the great talent of the Superb and now I have one I can say it delivers on all counts.

You'll be fine with HTC and iPhone 3

VAT? Are you leasing or bought, was not aware on the VAT as my company is leasing its just the monthly amount I hope.

Cheers for the comments, sounds just the ticket

Hi Steve. Re VAT:

Skoda are offering 0% VAT on all new diesel Superb saloons and petrol Superb estates bought before the end of March 2013. It was a saving of £4000 and enabled me to get the Elegance model. Needing a diesel meant it had to be the saloon I selected. Without the saving I'm pretty sure the car would have been unaffordable. The company I work for is "not for profit" and we therefore buy our cars outright as one way of balancing the books towards the end of a financial year.

Arghh right, cheers Michael, any savings like that and the lease company would pocket them and not pass them on to our company!! Other wise I could get the L & K Saloon

But mine is not ready to change until June unless I can strike a deal with them on taking the Nissan back before it costs them anymore money, last 2 months has been

1. New Engine (cam belt let go)

2. Clutch

3. Fly Wheel

4. Brakes and disks all round

5. 4 New Tyres

6. Replacement steering arms

Get them up to 100,000 miles and they fall apart in the hands of a national account manager :giggle:
