Rear anti-roll bar bushes pulling away slightly

Featured Replies

If at all relevant the car is a 2.0Tdi estate 58 plate, done 110K

At servicing, mechanic reported rear anti-roll bar bushes pulling away slightly.

Do I leave it alone, and if so, until when?

Or is there any merit in replacing asap.

Can't remember ever having needed to do those on any vehicle.

Thanks for any advice !

Do you mean the bushes on the drop link? If so it's common for them to ware well before your mileage.

I presume thats what the mechanic means. Got no noises, no clunks no nowt, so must be an early warning based on visible inspection

I've heard of them going after 40k on some Octy's but generally will rattle over bumps for some time before getting bad enough to need replacing

Any idea what this costs to replace?

I figured on getting it done soon, despite no symptoms so as not to risk the hassle of failing mot later.

Always difficult to know when mechanic (this one was not known to me) is being helpful, or super picky.

Parts are only about £15 a side I believe and pretty easy to change, shouldn't be costly

Thanks very much for your responses and advice !

If he said the Rear anti-roll bar bushes then that's what he will mean, not anti-roll bar links.
