Replacing the Skoda Stream

Featured Replies

I want to replace the Stream radio unit in my 56 plate Octavia VRS.

I've only got the standard stream unit at the minute. Now I'd like to do either the following. Replace it with a Custom built PC unit as a little weekend project depending on how difficult it is or replace it with an after market stereo or just get the Stream MP3 off ebay so that I have Aux in.

Are there any guides on how to do any of the above? I did a quick google and couldn't really find anything apart from the standard removal instructions.

Thanks in advance.

Hi go on you tube type in mighty mods ipad install , the install they do is on a subaru legacy but the the method of how to is very helpful.

then if you get stuck you can always get advise on here.

I have the mp3 stream hooked up via an amp to a 600 w kenwood sub with standard door speakers sounds good for a cheap install but if you dont wasnt all the cds floating around in the car have a go at the above you can use any tablet go and check it out ...

I hope this helps a bit.

Putting a Stream MP3 in is a straight swap. Easy enough.

I looked at custom PC installs or iPad set ups, but ended up with a Columbus unit that suits my needs.

Everyone is different though and I'd be interested in seeing what you end up doing.

You'd better off with putting a Stream MP3 in and as mentioned its a straight swap over.

Ive got a stream mp3 spare, i replaced it with a bolero

Thanks guys? So it's literally an in out job, no additional parts needed? Just need to get an aux cable off ebay then it seems :)

Yes. The AUX port would need wiring in to an accessible location though. Some have it in the top-box on the dash, some in the glove box, if you have the armrest it can go in there. Have seen someone with it mounted in one of the blanks under the heating controls (pre-fl)

Fairly easy job. :)

No, you'll need to install an AUX socket too. The AUX input is not on the head unit, it is a separate unit normally mounted in the centre armrest.

Mike

Oh, from the impression I got it's just a cable you can connect to the back of the head unit and then I'd run it around the back/through the glove box.

Ebay item: 140922585031

I ordered that eBay item and it was wrong type so they sent me one without the plug and 3small connectors on.

I have got that e-bay lead. All good on my stream mp3 playing music from my ipod

3 small metal connectors? They would be what was in the plug. IIRC easily removed and plugged into an existing one if needed.

Yes they plugged into the vacant holes in the blue plug.

Left, right and earth. You get to keep your cd changer too as some other kits you lose that.

When you fitted this did you lose the cd changer in the boot?

Just wondering if this replaces the blue plug in the connector block.

Hi, I’m looking to replace my standard stream unit too, 06 Octavia. Is this a bad idea for any reason?? https://audiotechdirect.com/cart.php?suggest=9548eb04-0ec6-440c-ada1-c884e22b7201
