Bulbs replaced...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

As with my last Yeti. I've replaced the headlight bulbs...As a note the standard bulbs are bloody awful!! Candles mounted to the front of the car, would have more effect :-)

I brought the halfords super bright ones, as they had a buy one, get one free deal. With regard to replacement I forgot what a complete pain they are to replace, especially the nearside one.

Just note that the manual doesn't describe well the bulb removal, note the clip you press till it unclips from the top.

With respect to the bulb I'll post an opinion when it gets dark :-)

Many non xenon drivers on here have fitted nightbreakers and Philips extreme over the years with a noticeable improvement.

Thanks rockhopper, I remember. I have a friend with a halfords discount card, so I thought it was worth a try....

Hi Jez, for those of us lucky enought to have never replaced headlight bulbs in over 40 years of driving, will you be a little more explainatory about the method used to remove the existing bulbs and fix the new ones in place. I have already removed the round screw on cover and had a look, but do I just push hard on the end of the hairpin retaining spring or pull outwards on it.

Cheers, Banjo

Aha OK, no problem. You need to press the protruding part of the clip till it un-clips. The bulb is held at the top by this clip. Pressing the clip means it pivots upwards and releases the bulb. As a note to this I found pressing clip nearest the end gives the best leverage.

See below hope it helps:

The arrow where i mark press is where the protruding part of the clip is. The the other arrows is where the clip retains the bulb. I'm afraid to say you have to apply quite some pressure to get the clip, unclipped.

Oh yes on the nearside note you are best to mount the bulb looking through the light lense....

Best of luck
