Console Bush Orientation Quiery

Featured Replies

I had to have my console bushes replaced due to failure on MOT.

Unfortunately i didn’t have time to get them done myself so let the garage do it.

Upon doing some work on the car today, i had a better look at the console bushes and they don’t look to be installed correctly?

Looking at the manual and the various threads, the flats of the bush should be nearly aligned with the cast letters underneath. Which is near enough in line with the orientation mark on the opposite side of the console. Or 6 and 12 o'clock from horizontal

Right to be thinking that this should be taken back to the garage to be installed correctly?

on the guides youve been looking at is the car in the air or on the floor ? this may alter how the bush looks ?

The picture above, is of my car on the ramps with the suspension unloaded.

Pretty sure the pictures i have seen have been simular with the car in the air, but with the bush in a different place

Which type of bushes are they, what's their part number.

I have a new pair of 31253 - 1 KO 407 183E waiting to be fitted - and they are not as solid as the pictured bushes.

DB.

they are seat ibiza cupra bushes new type fabia bushes are an x bush rather than solid.

as they are solid bushes im not sure it would make a difference on the different orientation of the bushes ..... if your not happy with the work im sure you could take it back and get them to spin the bushes round abit

i have also just bought some of the same bushes and also dont have the time/tools to do it myself, can i ask how much you paid for fitting?? thanks

I'd certainly "like" to see the TCA hexagonal spigot "wanting" to locate itself in the hexagonal hole in the Cupra bush - in the condition shown, one side of the car must be hanging down lower than the other.

It'll be fine. The older type bushes have to be fitted a certain way for the wishbone to kick, on a solid bush it doesn't matter so much.
