size limit to sd card that bolero stereo will read

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, this is the first time i've posted on the site but i've used it several times and with advice on a number of threads I've managed to transfer my itunes library onto a 32gb SD card which works well in my yeti's bolero stereo except.........it only seems to read the first half of what i've put on there (A to M alphabetically). It takes about 20 seconds to read the card when I first put it in and then only appears to 'see' the first half of what I've put on. Is there a limit to the amount of information that the stereo will read on an SD card? Has anyone had similar problems and been able to resolve them?

Thanks in advance.

Organise artists in to folders ABC, DEF, GHI etc. Should be OK then. Mine takes a while to read contents at first too. There is a software update to address this but I don't know how long is normal, and an initial ten or twenty second wait doesn't bother me.

Thanks JB, I'll give it a go. Yeah, the wait isn't an issue but will be nice to get my full library accepted.

Mmm, tried it and no go. Seems limited to accepting about 12gb however I organise the content. Anybody any other ideas?

16GB sdhc is the biggest i have had working in mine.

There are 2082 files all in MP3 format taking up 11.4Gb. Any more and it won't 'see' them. I'll have a look at your links Coop. thanks

There is some documentation floating around in 'Skoda Land' but I'll be fecked if I can find it now. Whether I was actually reading about the Bolero or one of the other units, I can't be sure - sorry!

Whatever I read, I read it quite recently & I'm fairly sure it said the limit was 32gb but only for SDHC. Standard SD had a lower limit (16gb I think?) & had to be formatted to FAT32 before use. Are you using SDHC or SD?

Can't get much better than that!

I've found what I'd read - it was from the Columbus manual. Now, to my simple brain, the Columbus is just a Bolero that's had its CD auto-changer ripped out & had a sat nav installed in its place - I guess it's anything but in reality.

Anyhoos, this is what the Columbus manual says:

Requirements of the memory card

Memory cards measuring 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or 1.4 mm can be inserted

into the memory card case.

SD (Secure Digital Memory Cards) and MMC (Multimedia Cards) memory cards

with a capacity up to 4 GB.

SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity Memory Cards) memory cards with a capacity

up to 32 GB.

It is possible that some of the files on the memory cards cannot be reproduced

and have limited playback. Due to differing quality requirements from different

card manufacturers, it is not possible to guarantee the playback of memory

cards under all circumstances

Which is of no fecking use to you, as this suggests your card should work, whereas it doesn't. Sorry I couldn't help - hope you sort it!

Thanks for everybodies suggestions but it looks like I'll just have to stick with an 11.4gb music library. Shame but no great hardship.
