Which Air Filter to Buy for my VRS Fabia?

Featured Replies

I am having a full service done this time next week and need to know which is the best performance air filter to go for.

I know of K&N, Pipecross, BMC and ITG Maxogen.

Please can someone with experience shed any light on this?

Thanks

Don't waste your money, the OE filter is more than capable, back to back dyno runs on a dirty OE and a K&N showed 0.x bhp difference which is well within normal variation.

really, that is interesting. What about ITG, I keep hearing good things?

Have to agree there perhaps a bit of extra noise but noise does not equate to extra power.

OE is more than adequate, and even flow enough for a hybrid turbo. The problem when your flowing enough air for the hybrids is a few stories of them getting sucked in on themselves! Ive fitted a Jabba sport cone in box after reading some horror stories.

OK that answers that. Thanks for the input.

Not sure I can make it any clearer, you will get next to nothing from an uprated filter in terms of performance on a 1.9PD even if it's stage 1 mapped. Feel free to ignore me though, it's your money after all :)

as Avalon says the OE is more than adequate and oiled airfilters such as k & N generally stop the MAF functioning correctly

Jabba sport cone in a box

OE one is more than adequte i had a piper x made no difference at all apart from relieving me of fourty quid

Another vote for the cone in the box

Maybe try a green cotton filter?? apparently can be really good when combined with pd160 intake

Looks like I'll be sticking with OEM as it seems the be the fav choice.

I'm going back to OEM after using a Pipercross one for the past year. Interested in seeing how different they are. Didn't notice much difference when I went from OEM to Pipercross to be honest (standard Fabia with PD160 intake).

I put a pipercross foam induction kit on ages ago and it pulled better up the top of the revs but sounded horrible so went back to oem. Now using a k&n 57i I had spare and haven't noticed any difference apart from sound

Had this on mine and made no difference over the standard filter. Stick with OEM.

i had pipercross changed to standard oem filter fram one made no diffrence what so ever and at £7 bargain better than £30++ or £100 for induction bmc type

I'm running a k&n panel filter. Nothing shiny but lifetime warranty and comes with a sticker! Ebay 32 squids
