Which Engine is Better a.......

Featured Replies

Superb with 2.5 V6 TDi or 130 pd TDi :)

depends what you want. I should imagine the V6 is (albeit relatively) a gas guzzler. But in the same breath the pd 130 in such a large car may be a little underpowered?

But what do I know?

Bumpty bump...

Can anyone else help?

The PD130 is no slouch.

The V6 will be quicker , but not by a huge amount and it uses quite a bit more fuel.

I'd go for the PD130 if it was my money

also a pd 130 could be 'tuned' more cheaply to be 'probably' as good or better than the other...

Have driven both, the V6 feels a little stronger especially from lower down but there isn't that much in it. The V6 uses far more fuel though according to the official figures.

The V6 does sound lovely compared to the PD130 though. :)

If it was my money I'd go for the PD130, a tuning box will get performance upto V6 level and a remapped PD130 will be quicker than a V6.

If your buying new then a PD130 with higher spec is the way to go.

Cheers

Thinking about selling the furbie vRS and going for a year /18mths old superb elegence with leather and all the toys. Looks like it may be the 130 PD TDi then...Thanks guy's :)

Think I'd also go for the 1.9 TDI over the 2.5. The 2.5 may well be a V6, but its still a diesel.

The PD is better - but you have to love the V6. My cousin is in the army, based in germany - or was. And he drives a 525 BMW very hard up and down the Autobahn - and as he was cruising at 100-110 a Passat pulled up behind him with the indicator on - so my cousin squeezed the throttle, passed the car to his right and pulled in with an reasonable amount of throttle and the passat can shooting by, so my cousin pulled back out and burried it. He kept it flat to about 145 when he lost sight of the passat. He kept it planted for a little while, but it was a loosing battle......

The V6's are awesome motorway cars - although probably no quicker than a PD to 100 mph - so the V6 wouldn't prove to be any more useful ?!

30bhp is quite a difference.....that's like saying the 20V turbo Octavia is almost as fast as an Octavia vRS.

30bhp up, but 150kg heavier too :D

1 second better on 0-60 and 12 mph extra top speed isn't a huge difference.

You almost had me??You never had me. You'll never have me. Whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.

:iagree:

With cars & racing, that one second and 12mph does make a difference. Think about it and imagine it.

If he's thinking about upgrading to a Superb with leather and all the toy's I doubt he's concerned with shaving 1 second off his 0-60 or racing people Vin Diesel style  :D

Racing a superb?

I'd rather not imagine it if it's all the same to you.

On the road, that isnt a huge difference.

And they are road cars after all...

I don't know the answer
