Featured Replies

Simpsons Skoda are reporting rumours of possibly an imminent release of a 2ltr derv Fabia vRS... Has anybody heard anything?

Fabia or Rapid?

Fabia

Does the 2 litre even fit in the engine bay of the Fabia? Id be fairly surprised if it was true as its coming to the end of its platform life and people have been asking for it since the VRS was announced it would be Petrol only.

The sources are on German and Czech forums.. They also say it will be manual??

I think it most probably is just rumours as Yeti_man says, it's coming to the end of its production life...

There was nothing on the Skoda stand at Geneva the other day, in fact i didnt see one fabia... only something that looked like a fabia but with a higher roof maybe - was in monte carlo 2013 trim though. All the rest was the new octavia.

Shame, at the right price it would be a huge seller

There is an Ibiza CR140 so I'd say it's possible. Would be a great car if they did release it.

It does but that uses the newer platform as does the Polo, I thought one of the reasonings originally for the Fabia not getting the 2 litre TDi was the engine bay area - in some way or another. Could well be wrong though! And I love small cars with economy minded, torquey diesels! (had great fun in a Mini Cooper SD just before Christmas).

Elegance CR140 estate would be good :)

I'd prefer to see it on the mk3 Fabia. Mk2 is nearly done.

With sensible options... like Xenons. (that SEAT do sell!)

Elegance CR175 estate would be good :)

Ive corrected that for you sir! ;) *cough* Shark *cough*

That would be good, but I'm starting from 105 :(

Ah, sorry, I meant if they did launch a CR140 Fabia... ;)

I know :)

cant see this happening. basically VAG admitting they made a mistake using the 1.4TSI for the last 3 years. Also, bringing a new engine into the top of the range model just before it ends is odd.

If it could be spec'd with dsg it would need to be their 6 speeder which obviously is different to rest of range. I do think that the range is missing and dsg diesel. If a vrs it would definitely need to have 180bhp which would mean it certainly wouldn't be cheap.

When did the diesel VRS's in Skoda's range match the petrol equivalent in terms of peak power? 140bhp with nearly 240lb/ft will be rather 'nippy' as is. :) It would be manual only Id guess, same as the Ibiza FR but it would be great if they could get it into the sub 120g c02 band (unlike the FR that just misses it!).... if it existed!

I've noticed that CR140/170 models in the VAG stable are now coming with 7 speed DSGs...is it the dry or wet clutch variant though??

Ive driven an Ibiza FR 2.0 TDi and frankly thought it was boring; sure it wasnt slow but had nothing like the go of the 1.4 TSi; in fact it felt barely any quicker than the CR 140 GT Mk6 Golf I had at the time which was disappointinf given how much smaller it is.

The 140 vs the 170 is like chalk and cheese; a really marked difference between the two, more than the on paper 30hp and drop more torque would suggest. Still they'll never put the 170 engine in the current Fabia.....not to say the next vRS wont be a 150/184ps TDi; who could honestly guess.
