Hi all. Greetings from East London.

Currently own a Polo but am looking to buy a Passat or Octavia estate at some point.

Fantastic forum!

Hello

Hi mate,

The Octy and Passat are very similar.

Why do you need something bigger?

If it's rear legroom you are after then the Passat will probably suit you better as the Octy 1 is a bit tight for big adults.

If it's boot space you are after then it has to be the Octy, the boot is massive and has the advantage of being a hatchback.

Cheers

Hi Lee,

I am interested in an Octavia Estate because I'd like something bigger than the Polo. I am a photographer and sometimes cart a lot of stuff around. In truth, most of what I use fits into the Polo (just), and would go in Fabia or Octavia saloon. I just prefer the look of the estate. Definately don't like the look of the Fabia estate (just personal taste).

You seem to get a bit more car for the money with the Skodas. I was thinking of a 110 TDI remapped to 150bhp or with a bit of Jabbawork. Would love a vRS, but at 21, no-one will insure me. And it would get stolen where I live anyway...

Just look in something like What Car for boot space, nothing touches the Octy for boot space at the price or size of car. With the seats up the Octy hatch and estate beat the Volvo V70 Estate for space and the Octy Estate has similar space to the Volvo with the seats down. There will be plenty of room for your camera gear.

The 110 is a good choice, it responds well to tuning boxes and remaps and will do 50+mpg without much effort. A used 110 will only come in SLX/Elegance trim so you will get plenty of spec as well.

Cheers
