Sceptical of Snow foam

Featured Replies

This will depend on the pressure of the pressure washer, a full bottle will cover my car (or the TT) and leave about an inch in the bottle, I certainly could not get 2 cars out of ½ a bottle. (my pressure washer is 10 l/pim - 130bar)

I first used Valet Pro Ph Neutral SF, but it is not as good IMO as the Magifoam I now use, but either way neither of them will give you a touch less wash, it is simply a pre-wash.

Thats true. There are so many variables to take into account. Water hardness, pressure washer type and pressure, snow foam type or shampoo, etc...

But once you've found your level. Like yourself I prefer Magifoam, I tried Valet Pro Ph Neutral and wasn't impressed.

I Magifoam and leave to dwell whilst I go round the car with Bilt Hamber Surfex degreaser for nooks and crannies, rinse then foam with Gtechniq Gwash (it isn't a snow foam as you know, but goes on the car well) and use a warm bucket of water to rinse the wash mitt as I wipe the foam and rinse. Job done.

Do you mean you don't actually `wash` the car...just use the `Gwash` as your washing agent? If so, that's very interesting and seems rather easier than washing the car following the usual `Foam`, Rinse`.

Ye'. After snow foaming and doing wheels, rinse, then I use the foam lance as a method of appling the shampoo to the car. Then starting at the top, doing quarter of the room at a time then rinse the mitt, then after the roof, do the windows all round rinsing after each, then top half of doors again rinsing after each, then the lower half of doors.

If the car is a first wash I will pressure wash off any heavy dirt, spray surfex degreaser at 16:1 dirtectly onto the car, then pressure wash off, continue with snow foam and washing, then de-tar and de-iron rinsing in between, then rewash.

After a snow foam and then foaming with Gwash, any dirt remaining is loose enough that gently wiping over the panel will remove it.

Gtechniq Gwash is a great shampoo and very 'lubricious' and leaves no residue behind.

Thanks for the info.

Hmmm. must track down the Briskodian who recommended the snow foam and lance to me then and ask him for a contribution towards the cost. Some bloke north of the boarder from memory. Wonder who it was.....

Then i got this http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a18734b9a

and the foam gun you want is this

LOL sorry, but for winter i will be going citrus pre wash, i suspect summer i will be using the foam gun, its all about quickness in the winter.

Pre spray car, set up power washer, rinse, wash dry.

Summer.... well we have loads of time and light lol.

I will continue to use it but winter i use a citrus pre wash, its still so much fun foaming the car lol.

I have used a Foam Prewash and TBM as my routine for about 6 years now..I'll never do otherwise

In the Winter, I use a Prewash of pH neutral TFR (VP Snow Foam Combi) applied via garden sprayer

In the summer, there is no need at all as there is less salt. I have always had the time ...even in the winter

Sorry, couldn't resist the jest! Don't get me wrong I'm a BIG convert of prewashing and the help and advice I've recieved has been very much appreciated. As I'm furtunate enough to have the use of SWMBO car if the weather is really bad my Octy doesn't get that dirty compered to if I had to use it every day so snow foam still works for me thoughI MIGHT just sneak some citrus prewash into the garage just to see what it's like, but as others have said snow foam is fun!

A quick update if anyones interested. I tried diluting the snow foam as per Svends recommendation today for the first time and still got really thick foam, so that's a result.

My car was covered in salt and grit after a 40 mile trip last week when the roads were still wet after the gritters had gone out so I decided to give it a quick wash today.

I started by washing the wheel arches and lower sills with a 90 degree attachment on my jetwask, then using 1/2 pot of snowfoam/warm water mix in my lance. I snow foamed the whole car and left it a few minutes until the snow foam was sliding off the car. I then jetwashed the car with the softer of my 2 jetwash spray nozzles and followed this with an open ended hose rinse. I didn't dry the car so have some watermarks but the car was a lot cleaner as a result of this quick rinse and I'm convinced that the combination of snow foam and jetwash leaves the car cleaner than just a jet wash alone. whether others think it's worth the expense is up to them but I will continue to use it as in my view anything that gets the crud off before I get the microfibre mit out is worthwhile. As a comment on Magifoam I've looked on the web and it seems to be nearly twice thew cost of either unltimate or valet pro's version.

Hope this helps

Ade

I find that pressure washing first, then snow foaming, removes more dirt before the TBM

Therefore even safer

Same here. I'm a big convert to snow foam, especially after I found out what I was doing to my paintwork previously.
