Smelling petrol

Featured Replies

Hi not sure if any can help every so offten I can smell petrol out side the car most of the time it comes from the rear door area don't think I actually have a fuel leak as i cant see any petrol underneath car or on top of the tank and fuel gauge is not going down quickly. All so when I take off the filler cap you get a his so not sure why im getting a petrol smell. Or could it be that I had over filled my tank it a real head scratcher

there is a breather system for the tank which has a pipe that feeds to the evaporative emissions system, maybe the pipe has split somewhere up there

Have you popped the bonnet and had a sniff around the pump?

Ye there's nothing from the engine its seems to be coming frim around the filler cap

Is the seal on the filler cap ok? not split or missing?

The fuel filter is located underneath the car, below the rear passenger door on the filler cap side. Might be worth checking the connections.
