Ordered new Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Ordered a new Fabia vRS last weekend and am looking forward to its arrival, even if it is likely to be September due to factory 2 week summer shutdown :( At least it means I'll get a 55 plate

Went for the following options:

Black Magic

Sunroof

Xenons

Heated seats

Can anyone help with a couple of queries I can't see answered elsewhere on the Forums?

1) Is it possible to disable the ASR system in a way which doesn't involve me pressing the button every time I get in and having the little yellow symbol on the dash all the time? Can my dealer do this without me losing the ABS system?

2) Was I dreaming that somewhere in the owners manual it says something about your Skoda dealer being able to adjust the weight of the power steering? I'm sure it did when I looked at my demo car's manual.....

Many thanks in advance!

Hi - welcome to the Forum.

I have a 2005 Fabia vRS also, so good choice. As for the ASR you have to turn it off manualy although i wouldn't advise this. Very often the ASR is on your side, and it is staggering how much you can loose it and the car will straighten out for you, but in addition it trys to wheelspin all the time and the ASR tweaks without you knowing.

A hard thrash with it left on will convince you it can stay on - although if i want to race from traffic lights i turn it off -

As for the steering, it is something i don't know about, i think it is almost perfect in weight and feel, which is a mirricle for a VAG - lol.

Andy

The steering weight can be adjusted with VAG-COM although from what I've read about it on here from those in the know the factory setting is in fact the better setting.

I would consider Cruise Control in your options too mate, about

Oh and welcome

Cheers Andy,

I must have a lighter right foot than you! I managed to blag a 10 day test drive in a press car and covered about 800 miles in all weathers without suffering excessive wheelspin problems in that time. I currently have a Focus 115TDCi without any TCS or similar and cope fine too.

I've little objection to the intervention of the brakes at the wheels but the way the power is cut back and takes a while to resume is what bothers me. IF for instance you have lift-off oversteer and want to pull the car out of the slide you don't have the power to do so when you want it - just an observation from a bit of hooning during my test drive.... If it were to happen unexpectedly I'd rather know that my right foot dictated the power delivery, not the electronics!

I can see your point - but i like the fact i can drive like a hooligan and it will keep me on the tarmac - lol

Maybe i need to calm down a little - lol.....

Reasonable point - I'm aiming to keep mine on the black stuff and shiny side up too!

Oh and welcome

Cheers VRStu, I'm glad I haven't starting dreaming about the owners manual! The steering lacks a little feel compared to my Focus but is better than most VAG cars as you say.... Looks like I'll keep it standard
