Leak in rear nearside footwell

Featured Replies

Hi, Just bought a 2004 Skoda Fabia 1.2 12v hatch and only after getting it home I have noticed a wet pacth on the rear nearside footwell. The carpet is soaking wet throughout the nearside footwell and through to part of the front nearside footwell.

I have taken up some of the felt and can feel a large pipe with a grommet sealing it as it goes through the floor in the back corner of the nearside footwell. I can't find out what this pipe is or why it's leaking but I'm guessing water is coming up through the seal and into the footwell.

Neither door seals are leaking or the washer pump pipes so I presume this is all it can be, any further information on how to seal the leak would be much appreciated!

Cheers, Andrew

It's not the door leaking its the water coming up through a dodgy seal on a pipe going through the floor, cant see anything on that in the link.

Could be the rear window washer?

How are you sure it's not the door seals?

Checked all the washer pipes and no leaks there and the bottoms of the door and seals are all dry so isn't them. This pipe going through the floor is really wet all around so i'm sure it must be leaking, just not sure what it is.

Could it be a handbrake cable? Look from underneath the car and see if that seems to enter the shell at the right sort of position to correspond with what you're looking at on the inside. Maybe someone's replaced the cable at some point and knobbed up refitting the grommet?

I bet its the rear washer pipe that runs up the side of the passenger side towards the rear speakers. It can break there then leaks into the rear footwell

Rang the Skoda dealer today and they think it's the ABS cable, i'm just going to let it dry out then silicon sealant the hole tight and then do the same to the doors to stop them if they are to leak. Cheers for the help though

i can put my life on it that its the rear washer pipe, it runs from the bottle, down the side of the xhassis leg, past underneath the abs control unit through a tiny hole and gromit into the passenger footwell and then under the carpet.

I agree with SamtVRS.Had the same issues a while back and turned out to be the pipe had popped off for the rear washer. It just clips back together.

So if I disconnect the rear washer pipe under the bonnet will it stop leaking? Or should I disconnect it at the pump?
