Sorry to moan :(

Have you tried downloading the latest updates for the PID?

Go for a blast down a twisty road and put a smile on your face!

Things might look better then.

Sorry to hear about the scratches - hope they just buff out ok.

To be honest most new cars suffer from soft paint, the 500 went back dirty due to the marks on the paint work just with every day driving.

Again they (small cars) all have small tanks and I totally agree its annoying. I do not think a peugeot would be much better. But that's just down to personal experience.

I just picked up my PID, 6 weeks after car delivery....well not quite. I should of be more careful with already opened box, always a bad sign. What happened was today i went to my dealer have got my box, and been told click it into place before i'll use outside of car. So i followed instructions, very soon got the 'Skoda Navigation' screen but nothing else, i said to myself ok maybe it's syncing or charging or some like that. Drove home... still nothing, very soon realized this is cannot be right, so i was heading back to my dealer --this time rush hour-- and tried to explain i was expecting more than a 'welcome screen' then was very difficult to explain i followed their instructions, but soon we found out it was already registered to another car, and some reason previous user returned it. How professional is that, they're giving me what already someone tried to use, also it does not even in working order...after 6 weeks.

Sorry to hear about the scratches, auto car washes will cause scratches on most modern car paints. :'(

We are looking at a citigo for SWMBO as although the car she has at the moment has a bigger fuel tank than the citigo, it also needs refilling a lot more often than a citigo would!

Sorry made it seem really bad, but its just frustration really, I would like a bit more power, it tends to not like hills but I suppose all small cars with small engines do, really want a 208 gti but being 20 and male insurance would be expensive, one of the reasons why I went for the Go

Oh and yes PID is always as update as poss

I'd agree that on hills its a little lacking but all citycars are like this. The fiat was ok off eco but drank fuel like an alcoholic lotto winner.

Of course you could always look at a diesel as you'd get a little more poke and generally insurance is lower.

Your mad the car is zippy, the petrol tank is small but you can get 350 miles out of it, it's head and shoulders above most other cars its size, you'll regret chopping it in for something else. Just use the gears for hills that's what small cars are about, I have a golf gti which is 210bhp and I find the citigo so much better for day to day use.

Taking a car through a car wash and then complaining about scratches?. DON'T DO IT!! :wall:

Yes... But the OP is only 20 and its his first car. Most of us here had cheap things as our first cars and learnt as we went along (quite often the hard way too).

All is not lost, however. If he checks out the styling and car care part of this forum then he will find lots of hints and tips on he to keep his car in a good condition. Most of the car wash induced scratches can be polished out I suspect.

I was not aware of the "2 bucket method" of car washing, but now I am I can see the sense if it.

At the end of the day it's a question of how anal do you want to be about the condition of your pride and joy.

A lot of (especially young) people seem to use the foot wells as a mobile waste bin.

It's not how I want my car to be, but on the other and I don't vacuum the foot wells everytime a bit of grit gets in there ether.

It's a city car tank was going to be small ? We all know a mechanical wash scratches the hell out of modern paints ?, as for the French krap ? Will be fine for a while then the electrics will go, get the latest update for the PID, oh and buy a couple of buckets and good products to keep it clean, don't get rid of it its a cracking little car

I'll be honest, I would also like more power. I do miss the punch of my TSI Fabia, but this time around I need to save the cash as my situation is changing a bit and I do not want to end up struggling. In 3 years I can probably go back to something with some more go... I will see when the time comes.

Any other small car with a small engine will not like hills either, but I have at least found that the Citigo will happily keep up with the traffic, so it could be a hell of a lot worse, trust me.

At 20 years old, if you get something with "GTi" on, insurance companies will be queuing up to anally violate you. Since the Citigo is on PCP, it will cost you a lot to get out of it at this early stage. Sort the PID (if yours is that bad, surely it's faulty?), stick with the car and learn from it. Afterwards you will have another 3 years no-claims and that GTi will be much more affordable :)

Oh, and car wash scratches are pretty straightforward to deal with. Decent polish and a couple of coats of wax and they will be gone. Don't do that again ;)

Meguiar's ScratchX and an orbital buffer (or just elbow grease) will deal with the car wash scratches. These modern paints are very soft; wash very cautiously for the first year or so, after which they usually harden a bit.

That's a pretty easy repair, but you will probably find the crash bar behind the bumper is bent.

It does that to absorb some of the energy.

Even through the insurance it's not a big job, mine was similar and cost about £600 for a new bumper, crash bar and painting.
