Felicia rally at Sainsbury's

Featured Replies

I was just pulling into a space in Sainsbury's this afternoon when a familiar shape caught my eye a few spaces up and I rapidly swerved away from the space I was about to pull into (with a rather worried noise from the wife as she wondered what was going on) and managed to park up next to another rather nice Felica.

This got a groan from Lorraine once she realised what the sudden the change in direction had been about but when I started taking pictures of the two Felicia's together she walked off and tried to pretend she wasn't with me! A very tidy example that I hadn't seen around before in still shiny red with perfect rear arches and a mere 31,000 on the clock. Had Anglesea Motors number plates who were the local Skoda dealer round hear for many years.

Vive la résistance!

Sweet, had a similar duo arrangement with me & another Brisky member a few weeks back at our local Tesco ;)

^ Sounds familiar, I get it in the ear all the time about being on here too much + when am I going sell the 'banana', being her tag for it!!

However dogged persistence (bloody mindedness) normally wins the day & I kinda like uncool ! ;)

Thing is once she's on her high horse theres no stopping her.... She went on to rant about cadburys cream eggs saying how they were the devils own creation and they reminded her of black mans balls.

I've just shown swmbo this thread , and her response was this " what a tragic ****** I think you need counselling, you probably belong in asylum, poor lorraine, I know exactly how she feels, at least he didn't park on the other side of the carpark like you do"

she then later went on to say that my skoda on a scale of 1 to 10 is the gheyest car in Hampshire, and that is was like on top gears cool wall in the seriously uncool section minus a bit but much worse.. I think she's still a bit peed off becuase I knocked over a wheelie bin with her micra deliberately the other night...

To be fair Lorraine is fairly tolerant (in fact she keeps telling me how tolerant she is) and the Skoda is the only car in the fleet that she'll happily drive. the ZT-T is too big for her and she can barely see over the steering wheel, so she'll drive it but won't park it which would make going anywhere a waste of time as she'd have to come straight back again. The Triumph she only ever drove once and said never again, the polite word she used was 'idiosyncratic'. She also says she'd be scared to take it out on her own in case it broke down. Fair point, can't argue with that!

The Sainsbury's at the top of this thread seems to be a hotbed of Felicia activity. I saw a Pacific there a couple of weeks ago and this afternoon there was a white N reg parked up. Even I drew the line at taking photos this time though as there was a woman sat in it who I decided didn't look like she appreciated what she had. Shame really, it was a very early one, with no airbag but front fog lights and whilst it needed a polish the rear arches looked perfect. But what really caught my eye was the little badges on the front wing under the side repeaters. They appeared to have 'Skoda 100 years' on them. I couldn't get to close without drawing attention from the owner but N reg would be 1995 which would be about right for the centenary.

My N reg had those and I always wish I'd tried to get them off before it finally went to scrap. Ours was a 1.3 but came fitted out as a GLXi with fogs, centre console, champagne metallic paint...

I've got the fogs and the posh seats from it in my "new" (only had it 8 years) one now but oh I wish I'd kept those wing badges.

I guess the Felicia was the only model they made in 95 so the badges would be unique to them. Not much chance of finding any new ones lying around in the back of anyones garage then.

Mines got the 100 year badges too.

and the front fogs/centre console/central locking, but no airbag.

Back wheel arches have seen better days, but with a small patch on the chassis and a rear flexi pipe on the offside brakes, it flew through it's MOT again.

Not bad for a £230 car in January of 2011.
