Mech said he has never seen such a black air filter on a car, and it could never have been changed since new.

Made one hell of a difference to the MPG, jumped up 15 MPG on the maxi and it seems like it has a bit more power.

I thought it was the outside temp that was keeping the maxi at around 34 MPG as diesels do tend to use a bit more in winter.

The air filter is not ‘due’ until 60K !!!, I do mine every (variable) service myself.

I had a similar discussion in another thread. 60,000 miles on an air filter? Its rediculous.
