Is Brown the new Black?

Featured Replies

I am just about to buy a 4x4 Superb Estate and I have a choice of three cars.

One is a Black Elegance with Ivory and Black interior (Comes with auto boot)

The second is a Beige Elegance again with the Ivory and Beige with the boot and front parking sensors

Lastly the third is a Brown L & K with boot, park assist, 10 speakers and heated front wind screen.

There is a difference in price of about £1k between them.

The thing is i love all the gadgets but I am not sure about the brown colour and brown leather interior. Now if I could have it in black...

Is the Brown a really bad colour? am I just being silly?

Any advice would be appreciated?

I'm just over the bridge in Cardiff and I've been looking for a while - nationwide, I suspect i may have been offered the brown one through my local dealer. In the end I had a similar choice of L & Ks but in my case the alternatives were amethyst purple, brown or black (& SWMBO was having a big input). Amethyst purple was our (!) choice. I must admit I would have been OK with brown, but I do like the purple - black however is only for hearses in my opinion.

There has been a lot on here about the L & K brown interior which people appear to love or hate - I love - it gives an aura of higher quality than black (IMO) although I like Onyx - a colour which has proved serviceable despite grand kids in our Focus convertible.

As always you pays your money and takes your choice.

I took delivery of my L&K in magnetic brown on the 1st March and have had nothing but compliments. The colour varies greatly in whatever light from almost black at night to a deep brown in the sunshine

There's a new Porsche Panamera parked in the company car park in an almost identical colour and the new Boxster has two versions of brown in the standard pallette, Mercedes use a similar colour throughout the range and I've seen brown on several other new cars so maybe its the new white :-)

At the end of the day its personal choice but it looks like it might be around for a while

I have what was called "Mocha Brown", a metallic colour that also received many compliments. I specified Black leather, I don't believe light leather can ever be kept clean.

My L&K is Cappuccino, dealer had it on order for stock, my Superb elegance Combi was also Cappuccino with Ivory interior. Cappuccino and the dark brown seats and black carpets go very well together but you have to see it in the flesh to appreciate it. Possibly dealer ordered it special for me, he kept sending me letters to see if I wanted to change vehicles, kept the Combi for quite a while just over two years.

I second mbeadle's comments here. I too have the L&K in magnetic brown with brown interior, and can confirm it's very classy. I really like the variations in the colour according to the light. I was sceptical about the brown insides, but it turned out to be much darker than the photos seen around the web. Go for it!

I have Mocca Brown with Ivory leather and it always gets comliments.Just a shame the brown has been dropped from the colour choices as I realy like it. I know its available on the L&K but I wont have a car with a glass roof. Will see what the colour options are at the end of the year when mine is up for replacement
