  • Hi. Heres my Favorit, named Kermit. He has some modifications , now weighing only 685kgs and giving 138bhp from his little 1289cc engine.

Hi Courior, nice picture. Where was it taken? I made several trips to Malta a few years back when you still had the old buses so I kind've know my way round the island. The first time I went, 1997 I think, there were still lots of old British cars too. I saw more Triumph 1300s (I have owned many of these and still have one) in two weeks in Malta than I've ever seen over here. They were built in Malta from parts sent out from England.

By the time of my last trip about five years later the buses were still there but most of Triumphs had gone. Now the buses have gone too so I am unlikely to return unfortunately.

Hi Yossarian, It was taken on Munxar Hill in the south of the island. There are still some old english motors running about here. I think the most loved car here is the Mk1 Escort. They are kept in showroom condition and lovingly modified. There are a LOT of skoda's here, esp Favorit's and Felicia's!  The roads here are a million times better than last time you came, Maybe you should come visit again :)

Well i figured i would post some updates myself too of the car now that i took some pics with a couple of friends.

Sorry if the quality is a little rough but had to resize the images to fit in the post xD

Hi Courior, I must admit I wouldn't have given the Skodas a second glance at the time as they were almost new, perhaps I should get back looking at your and Warbuli's posts. I'd not been to Munxar Hill as it's not on a bus route. Though I did once walk from Marsaxlokk to Birzebbuga as it said the words 'Pretty Bay' on the map. When I got there it had a lovely view of a container port!

We did get well off the tourist routes though. Basically we went to Valletta bus station and pick the most interesting looking bus regardless of where it was going. And get off again if I saw aTriumph 1300! Ended up at the hospital once and some sort of industrial estate.

warbuli i will join the malta club as well, pm the web address please? :) .. Also the exhaust you have, do you pass VRT with it (noise)? i need a new silencer for VRT but would rather a sports one than the original, and its cheaper :)

i will send you the contact details as soon as i get them :)

For the exhaust at the moment i do not know because the vrt is this year but i dont see why its going to be a problem because the car still has the catalytic converter and middle muffler installed so the car is quiet at low refs and has a nice sound at high rpm but not extremely loud

Here's mine at Ancona waiting to board the ferry to Greece. A1999 1.3lx. I picked her up in England for a couple of hundred quid. Put a new alternator on and a battery as the old alternator cooked the old battery. Left England with the "overheating when stopped" problem but as 950 of the 978 miles is on the motorway it wasn't an issue. Did the whole trip in 17 1/2 hours and she was brilliant. The plan is to use her in Greece this summer and then drive her back in October. yhydega8.jpg

I had to smile to myself when I pulled up at the port to see a very smart BMW being loaded on a breakdown truck. It was an English car and when I asked the guy what the problem was he looked at me like I was from out of space. So I thought sod you and as I patted the bonnet of my little old car I told him, "next time you want to get yourself a more reliable car".

Have to ask - what's that on the roof? I can't quite make it out from the photos. If it's your dog maybe you should get an estate.

That's the exhaust from one of my Rapids. I was taking it to Daverapid's so he can patch it up some more. It is thoroughly rotten but unavailable anywhere so must make do and mend.

Dog on the roof you say?

I like it, a wind powered Felicia! You have to watch out for low bridges though.

Monty went to his very first briskoda meet, pictured here next to yossarian g's felicia, he's only a baby though at 3 and a bit months, he's got slightly less miles on the clock than yoss's wagon.

That's a nice shiny door isn't it. And you can't see the scratches. I'm glad I made the effort to polish it before the meet now.

Playing hide and seek with my felicia

I'm just gonna say that I like the felicia because, they're so handy to work on. I play a lot of gigs and to be fair, my little one keeps chuggin along. As well as that, nobody really does rat look in my neck of the woods, and I've taken what most would consider a dull car (not us, we're smart) and made it a serious little headturner (Good for advertising gigs). I also like its running costs, especially where here in Ireland, its all so damn expensive! I also had a beater of an estate I had for 6 months, bought for €160 with 180k miles on it and sold on and it was still local for nearly 2 years. They're a Super tool in my book.

Heres mine

That a Felicia with a Mercedes grille?

LOL

I've seen it all...
