what oil for my tdi

Featured Replies

its only 4 litres and you need 4.5 - 5 for an oil change - I always use the fully synth from ecp, it comes in 5 litres - changing it regularly seems to be the key

STOP. Not only is it less oil than you need but it's not even the right type of oil for your car, its also not even that cheap.

You need an oil that is certified to the correct VW standard, that's VW505. For the money VAG's own brand oil is Quantum, you can get 5ltrs for £29.99 delivered, your local dealer or TPS should be able to supply it cheaper than that. Beware of oil that 'meets' the spec, it's marketing speak for we didn't pay to have it tested but whoever we got to make it for us said someone did and it'll be fine.

That ^^^

Just to add that should be 505.01 as the fabia has a DPF. I'd have edited it but unfortunately it won't let me.

505.01 as the fabia has a DPF.

 My 2006 PD100 doesn't.........AFAIK they were never fitted to the 1.9 TDI's.....on Mk1 Fabias at least. I Have a feeling a few 1.9 TDI Octavia Scouts may have had a DPF but not until 2007 I think.

Definitely 505.01 or 507.00 oil though.

Good point :)

As above you must use oil that is suitable for the PD engine. So it needs to be 5W-40, VW 505.01. So from Amazon, this stuff. http://www.amazon.co...=A3B5SW5SOXGEY2 However as pointed out, that's only 4 litres and you need 4.5-5l. You can buy 5 litres of oil from other manufactures for a simular price.

BTW, as that was your first post, Hello and Welcome to Briskoda. :hi:

thank you for your replies.

would this be correct?

No. Looking at a larger pic of the bottle it has 502.00 and 505.00 which is not the required standard. VW 505.01 is what you are looking for.

This is the one I think you need. http://www.eurocarpa...76081&0&cc5_248

If you buy from ECP, use BRISK 25 to get 25% off.

If you want cheap PD oil, then buy the Quantum stuff as 'Booke' suggests. I don't use it myself (I use Millers) but I believe it the oil that a lot of dealers use. Reading the other thread, Quantum is made by Castrol.

If you want cheap PD oil, then buy the Quantum stuff

Don't know I'd describe it as "Cheap"....that might imply it's rubbish! It's the best value 'proper' PD oil.....it's what Skoda, VW and Audi dealers use.....that's good enough for me!

VAG own Quantum, like Skoda it's a brand. £29.99 delivered is what you are supposed to pay, anything over that is marketing/branding.

Just got 5l of quantum platinum off Audi Warrington's eBay shop for £25 delivered ;)

£31.29 for Quantum 507.00 long life delivered on eBay, suddenly it doesn't seem like such a bad buy.

Mines 505, still good price and more than up to the job !

Yep, I'd normally smile at the prospect of running long life oil as you normally pay a premium and it's in an engine that's not equipped to gain any advantage from doing so as you work to the same 10k intervals, but it's only £1.30 more than 505.01 and at that sort of price difference I don't mind. I'll still probably end up buying 505.01 though :)

I use longlife 3! Better oil :)

Sorry for the late post. I tried the eurocar parts BRISK 25 code but it does not work for some reason.
