Sun cream on paintwork - how to remove?

Featured Replies

My VRS has marks on it from the kids sun cream. I have tried a number of things to get it off but can't. Does anyone know how to remove it? It's driving me nut's.

I've only machine polished suncream strains off of paintwork previously, however it may be worth trying some WD40!

Never had this personally but would imagine it's something in the oil base that's staining? Don't apply anything too aggressive but it may be worth trying product/s that are intended to remove tar spots etc, then polish over. I had worse a good few years back when I found my then young son happily sanding down my near side front wing, bless him! :wonder:

Thanks for the info. Does the machine polishing get it off for good? I've heard of the marks coming back after a while.

If done properly no it wont

wouldn't a strong citrus cleaner do the job?

More than likely. Yes

I've had this at work a few years back on a Grand Cherokee with all panels covered in sun cream. It was left on in the baking sun all week until the guy came home & he then found that it couldn't be removed. We used everything under the sun to remove it (no pun intended) & managed to on 6 panels, we had to paint 4 due to the damage. Every sun cream is different & the effects will be different depending on weather too. Good luck
