Brakes

Featured Replies

What is the difference between the standard brakes on the Fabia VRS (56) and a Fabia Elegance (Y). If any, would it be possible to put VRS standard ones on.

It depends on what engine you have.

If you have the 2.0 petrol, it has the same brakes as the vRS (288 mm). The only difference is vRS callipers are painted Green (Red on SE)

Most other Fabias have 256mm front discs (some have 239 mm dia). I believe to upgrade, you need different hubs, callipers etc. So probably not worth it. It would probably be easier to upgrade the disc and pad material.

All rear discs and callipers are the same, other than calliper colour.

Before considering an expensive brake upgrade when was the last time your fluid was changed? The difference new fluid can make for a relatively small outlay is massive.

are you sure you need new hubs to go from 256 (standard 1.9TDi) to 288 (vRS), Jim? I thought you only needed to replace the discs, calipers, carriers and pads?

I was only thinking out loud as I have 2 sets of front VRS brakes.

You need new hubs 100% The carriers on the 256 are part of the hub or something.

cheers, Matt. Looks like more expense my way :|

I can confirm that you need new hubs as I have done it, luckily I managed to get hubs from the classifieds on here. Quite an involving job but well worth it once complete
