Is the maf part of the engine cover

Featured Replies

Hi

My first post, been on here since december but normally I don't post as I can always fnd the answer searching

I can't find the answer this time but its probably because its such a stupid question.

When I removed the engine cover about a month back, I'm pretty sure I disconnected the maf sensor as it's part of the engine cover?????

I'm looking at fitting one of these new fangled induction kit thingys. So the question really is what to do with the sensor? is it seperate from the cover and can be put back on the end of the air intake pipe going into the engine, little confused really.

The maf removes simply by undoing two screws with a torx head. Just make sure you don't lose the seal which fits between the sensor and the engine cover.

nice one, so the maf and sensor can be put back onto the ducting for the new induction kit and in turn fit over the pipe leading back into the engine? (like a middle piece)

think the answer is to take the plunge and figure it out when I get it

thanks for the help

will keep you in mind want to find out which is best

The best at the moment is either the Revo or ITG but they do cost more. There is nothing wrong with the Autotech one but be prepared to lose some low end torque with any intake. I had one fitted and opted to refit the OE engine cover due to the loss in low end torque. I made a trade off between a fast road car and a track car. The intake flowed well and kept the power top end but I don't use the top end every day and wanted a car that was agile in the low and mid range for everyday driving and use. The OE cover will flow enough air for the K03 to make around 270bhp as mine did.

Or dont bother fitting one and save your self some cash, i dont think they bring anything worthwhile to the car in my opinion.

yeah, I wouldn't bother, but when I took mine off to put a new filter in, it was cracked and a couple of the bungs missing (very poor considering it was a skoda dealer serviced car)

So it's a case of new cover vs induction kit. more than anything else my inner chav likes the idea of a bit of induction roar with the windows down during summer, sad I know

Do you actually mean the air filter cover (that's where my MAF is)? The engine cover is something else.

Otherwise- i'm just a very confused diesel owner.
