Done mr muscle trick now got eml on

Featured Replies

As per title done that took it for a blast, car feels lots better. When I put it back together I blanked off the egr pipe on the manifold and disconnected the vacuum pipes. After about half hour of driving the eml came on. It's a asz engine. Any help is much appreciated.

Danny.

I thought it was BLT's, not ASZ's that threw up the engine warning light?

The EML light has come on because you blanked off the EGR.

As far as I know any engine with an egr will throw up the eml if you blank off the egr.

which vacuum pipes did you disconnect ?

Older VEP engines such as the AHF don't tend to through a code.

I thought it was only the blt engine that didn't like blanking off the egr.

The two vacuum pipes on the egr.

The two vacuum pipes on the egr.

i would imagine it will be to do with the 2 pipes being disconnected causing a drop in vacuum pressure if just pulled off and left

Do you think if I plugged them it may help or will that balls it up even more

ive heard of a solid gasket being put in the turbo pipe for the egr to disable it on asz engines and every thing working as expected but ive not heard of pulling the pipes off ....

without plugging the car in to vcds you cant tell what the exact prob is ....

if it was my car personally i would put the vacuum hoses back. A drop in vacuum pressure could result in a few comonents such as turbo actuator not functioning correctly

There's your problem. Plug them, a golf tee works well.

Did you remove the turbo and just clean it ect..any guides for this ?? :)

nice one. Will give it a try.

with an egr delete on the asz engine you have to get it mapped out. an shark map has this feature on it

As above, both engines will throw up a eml light with a egr delete.

Answered it yourself :D

How many acronyms?!

How many acronyms?!

Only two :)

EGR - Exhaust gas recirculation

EML - Engine management light.

Also mentioned in the thread:

VEP

Technically the first three are just engine codes not acronyms.
