Boot button on key does not work

Featured Replies

Has anyone got an idea why the boot release button does not work on my occy? It's a 06 plate 20.tfsi vrs

If you press and hold the button the boot pops up but only off the catch for a second. If you dont catch it in time it latches back on, when the button is just taped it only unlocks boot. The octy doesnt have function to fully open

I take it that the top & bottom bottons are unlocking / locking the car doors OK and you are holding the boot release button for a couple of seconds.

With VCDS you can check that the car is getting the signal from the key and whether the boot lock is triggering.

Yeah tried this all and nothing

So,

The lock and unlock buttons work OK - confirms the remote is successfully 'talking' to the car.

The boot can still be opened manually using the microswitch on the boot lid - confirms the boot electronics and mechanism are working OK.

Have you tried the second / spare keyfob to see if the problem is experienced with this key too?

It sounds to me like a faulty button on the fob itself?

It could posbibly be a option in vcds that needs activating. Not 100% on that.

Time for a new remote.

As you only have one key getting a spare would be a wise investment anyway.

I have the same problem on mine.

Both lock and unlock buttons work fine but the boot release does nothing even if you hold it down for a few seconds.

Boot release on the car works fine.

Just to follow this up.

I thought mine was not working but it is. The issue is my car has the single door unlock code active so by default it only unlocks the drivers door. It seems that if the drivers door is unlocked then the boot button does not work. It only works when the car is fully locked.

With the car fully locked, a press of the button and it pops open and then when you shut it, it re-locks

If you dont catch it in time it latches back on...

Not on mine!

Not on mine!

Fairdoes. I know mine does fully latch on but you have to press tge boot button.
