exhaust pipe from turbo to egr split...

Featured Replies

I deleted my egr and cleaned the inlet manifold etc on Friday, and all was well until I was just on the way back from Stratford and the engine was making a right racket.

. I've had a look and all I can see is the pipe that goes from the turbo to the underside of the egr, looks to have a split in the ribbed/corrugated section and when you rev it, it has a bit too much play in it and taps the underside of the delete kit-thus causing the noise (I hope). There's also a fair loss of power which I'm assuming is due to this?

So, I have a couple questions-

Is it just a coincidence that it's gone after deleting my egr, or has some back pressure or something knackered it?

And secondly, rather than me having to source a new pipe, can't I just put the blanking plate on the other end (near the turbo). As I'm assuming this bit of pipe is obsolete now I've no egr?

thanks

You should have put the blanking plate on the turbo in the first place dude, I did exactly the same as you though at first as it was easier lol.

It's split because the pipe vibrates like mad when the engines running.

You probably have a black engine bay now it's horrible isn't it.

You will lose a lot of power too yeah, exhaust gases aren't making it to the turbo to spool it up.

Ahhhh fair enough lol. I had that pipe off aswell as I was going to Mr muscle the turbo but never. Well by the time I got home the top bit of the pipe had completely fell off! Luckily it's got wedged in as I needed the blanking plate off it. Hopefully it hasn't damaged anything else.

Oh yeah, black engine bay you say? Check! Filthy now. Never mind
