Le Mans camping recommendations

Featured Replies

Thought i might go this year fir a change from Nurburgring 24, but a bit worried about choosing the wrong camp site.

Not expecting peace quiet and tranquility, but not really wanting non stop 24 hour headbanging hard core rock either.

Must be secure and withing walking distance from the track.

Anything recommended from pat or present followers?

Don't mind paying a bit extra if the facilties are quite good (bogs)with some on site security patrolling p'raps?

Needs booking pronto if I'm going.

Haven't been for a few years, but camping Bleu (now Bleu Nord) and Beausejour were ok - the bogs aren't great anywhere, just accept it! Showers available at Maison Blanche, but be prepared to queue! A quick search online found a 2013 camping guide on the Beermountain website.

Don't think there's security at any of them, but generally there doesn't seem to be a problem with theft - just be careful and don't leave anything valuable unattended!

I can't remember where we stayed. But disregarding people making noise, you can hear the cars all the time... (but I guess you are used to that, as I expect 'ring 24 is same?).

I just remembered that I got woken up by the people next door bouncing his Mitsu EVO off the limiter. The flames out the exhaust were cool

I stayed at Camping Nord last year, didnt have to queue once for showers which was a bit of a surprise.

Was also within walking distance of the track.

They did have security on the gates, but they didn't do much other than check tickets every now and then. And as some already mentioned don't leave valuables in the tent, especially on the Sunday night and Monday as there tends to be gypsies looking for anything valuable.

You may struggle to book now though as tickets for camping normally sell out around christmas!

Stayed at Bleu Nord a few times, always been good, you do get some trouble makers but the campsite usually turns against them if they get too out of hand. At any campsite DO NOT elave any valuables (or anything really) in your tent.

This will be my fifth year at Bleu Nord which is just across the road from the circuit. It is camping with minimal facilities but it does work. Security is non existent unless you are in the Piston Heads gated community. And NEVER, EVER leave valuables in your tent. Lock as much as possible out of sight in your car at all times.

If staying on the Sunday night be careful as most people move out as soon as the race finishes and the gypsies are trawling the site for anything they can find and no one is there to stop them.

However, it is well worth it for the experience. I went once as it was one of those 'it has to be done', now it seems to have become an annual pilgrimage :)

I have always thought about doing this but the queues and the squalor of the camping sites have put me off in the past. I guess that is all part of the experience!
