Fab Vrs MPG

Featured Replies

I get 50 mpg out of my fab vrs, mixture of driving conditions, just wondering what anyone else got.

Just wondering what other vrs owners get to the gallon as per dash computer. I am getting a consistent 22mpg which i dont think is too bad. am i driving it wrong, cos someone said i should be getting 50mpg.

Sounds like you are reading the temperature mate!

Hehehe - I average 47. Can be below 40 if really giving it some grief or up to 65 if running gently.

i do alot of short trips and my mpg is never below 35mpg, average is about 40 mpg

Looks like our mate "shifty" was just wasting our time - he's edited the post!

I drove 85 miles on Thursday night and averaged 18.3 mpg. Thats my worst figure yet.

i have done over the last 900 miles this week 54.9 and today over 140 miles averaged 58.9 so alot better than usual

did 300 miles today 54mpg - sound ok to me! that was booting it sometimes too!

Been doing regular runs @ 65MPH on M/Way ( god its hard to keep the speed down) I have been avg 57 MPG, and have confirmed with Milage / Fillup calculation.

I've averaged 49.8mpg over 9,000 miles

Running on BP Ultimate for the middle part of that time didin't seem to produce any noticable improvement whatsoever...

The dash computer is consistently overreading by between 1.9 and 4.0 mpg though curiously at the last top-up it was only 0.5 over

Going slowly certainly improves the reading greatly. Last Wednesday returning from Addlestone along the M25, the computer average read 69.1mpg, the highest I've ever seen, when I got to the M4 junction after 11 miles - dropped to around 58mpg by the time I got home 100 miles later...

44.6 mpg over 500 mile stretch, going 110-140kph through the continent (Netherlands, Belgium, France) then got completely hacked off in the UK with incompetent driving (yep, 3 lane motorways are required in the UK as no-one moves out of the fast lane, ever.. (end rant) - was a tad stressed for the first 10 miles in the UK whilst re-adjusting).

Was doing easily 60mpg in NL as most of that was on cruise, pretty flat, not much wind.

When pushing up the speed the wind-resistance started making a bigger impact.

05 vRS, 7.5k on the clock, thereabouts.

Not bad considering it was heavily loaded with beverages for personal consumption

not wasting your time guys, was a typo to begin with. I am averaging 33 - 45 mpg driving fairly hard. letting the engine idle for long periods of time seems to drag it right down on the computer. I was sat talking to a mate tonight with the engine running for an hour or so, and ave mpg went from 40.9 to 31. That takes some pulling back up on average, so thanks for your input guys, i appreciate it.

Done 3.5 k now, so hoping mpg will continue to improve.

37mpg

Computer indicated at 48mpg over the last 2500 miles (you can flick the button on the underneath of the computr/wiper stalk to get the '2' reading which is cumulative over the last 2500miles).

670 miles on the clock and trip 2 says 44.2mpg. Quite happy with that on a new engine. I'm tending to split 50/50 between 10+ mile motorway/A-road trips and 3-4 mile town stuff.

Cumulative reads 44, trip today reads 57.4 :) But I was driving like your gran.

Anyone got 500miles from a tank yet - I'm attempting it at the moment and it's looking good.

I'm sure you could do it if you stay below 50mph ;)

500 miles on a tank is possible. I have only achieved it once mind. As soon as the light comes on, it irritates the hell out of me so I fill up at the nearest station!

I've averaged 46mpg so far, but the trip is always over 52mpg on my commute to work and back... :)

Mine doesn't tend to get too high, depending on the amount of progress I'm making ;)

Too hilly to get really good fuel economy, on a 'flatter' road it would be WAY better than this though, based on travels through Benelux/France

600 is possible too

I'm determined to get 500 out of this tank whilst driving 'normally' - 70 on m-ways and accelerating like all the other cars - overrun rules!

I reckon going silly with it would return 550+

I'm getting about 43-44mpg at the mo (air con's getting a bit of a bashing in this warmer weather). It ought to be better for the amount of motorway driving I do, but it's all roadworks just now, so I'm forever stop-start as the traffic bunny-hops its way through the contraflows. I once did Manchester to Edinburgh and back on a single tank (just over 500 miles) but that was in 'economy mode' (did about 54mpg), and was in serious danger of running out of fuel by the time I got home...

I'm getting between 45-52 mpg as a cumalative total, but i only got the car a few days ago and it's only done about 400 miles. I'm quite happy with the economy but will it get even better as the engine "matures"?

I started seeing massive improvements in performance and fuel economy about the 5500-6000 mile mark.
