FARB worth doing?

Featured Replies

Could any of you guys advise on the above at all is an aftermarket FARB worth fitting for any good gains?

For road only worth upgrading the rear

Eibach do an uprated FARB for the fabia. Circa £200.

Personally I'd polybush the existing ARB for about £50 ish.

Yes, helps keep things balanced and level.

Paid £50 for my whiteline 22mm front one, but I got lucky lol

I recently got a white line one too. Balances it up nicely

Polybushing an arb doesnt really make a difference to handling at all imo

Agreed, if your standard bushes are in good nick then I doubt very much you'd notice anything. You will notice a new bar though!!

Ive got the Eibech farb and it does make a improvement.

Also I did the rear and strut braces too

The Fabia as std understeers, so I'm presuming you guys with fronts have also rears fitted too

Fitting just a front will increase understeer further

Like I said I did the rear with Jabbasport one and omp front strut brace

Just bought jabba and arrives today to be fitted

Would I be right in saying it would give a little more clearance for the FARB droplinks too, so I can drop the front end lower? Thanks for input guys.

I have already got Superpro bushes on the OEM FARB. Looks like this could be the next mod then. I will prob go for Whiteline so it matchs the rear one also.

Do you lose the undertray when fitting a farb?

Does the OMP stut brace and lower brace (is this the same as a FARB) that are advertised for the Ibiza cupra pd160 fit our cars?

As above do you lose the undertray when a aftermarket FARB is fitted? Anyone?

I'm pretty sure wilsy7 for affront lower strut brace you do have to lose the undertray.

For an anti roll bar no you don't, for a lower strut brace You don't either says mr Jonny5ive (massive edit ;))

Cheers JoshH nice one!

No worries dude :)

Does the lower strut brace actually do anything? I've read on here that it doesn't as the subframe is already pretty solid where it connects to.

For an anti roll bar no you don't, for a lower strut brace I'd imagine so.

Negative Ghostrider. I had the OMP lower brace fitted to my fabia complete with under tray

Roger! Edited my post :)

The rears effect on handling is profound! I fitted a farb on Friday and noticed no difference.

Arguably a stiffer FARB is a wise consideration for those with a stiff RARB. I can feel my own car leaning on it's rear wheel through corners rather than loading up the front and pushing on.

Whilst a stiff RARB is undoubtedly fun - and arguably the reason people buy hot hatches is for fun - it's not exactly stable or safety minded should something untoward happen.

I read somewhere "FWD cars feel better and better up to the point of no return, then spit you off through a hedge backwards", in relation to moving handling balance to the rear. Maybe great for the track - or a track with nice gravel fields to tun off onto - but not great on a normal road where some idiot will always manage to do the unexpected or incompetent thing at the worst possible time.

J.

it's always a balancing game between going too stiff front, and not enough rear

How? Any cutting involved? How low are you any issues on the bumps?

How? Any cutting involved? How low are you was I ? any issues on the bumps?

I don't own the car any more. Ask T.Spark if he's had any issues since he bought it in October last year

It wasn't stupid low as only sat on H&R springs -40mm IIRC. Also had little/no interior when I owned it so it still looked like it was on stilts.

No cutting involved to my knowledge. A slight bulge in the underside of the undertray but nowt to worry about.
