Inside Temp sensor location

Featured Replies

Hiya,

just a quickie

When replacing the car stereo I must have pulled on a wire with what looks like a temp sensor on the other end. Now the wire and the sensor on the end are free flying under the storage compartment that holds the hazard light warning button. Since then, I just can't set the cabin temperature to a stable setting. It blows too hot then cold etc. Setting the temp on the dial seems to make it too hot one minute, too cold 5 minutes later.

I can't see anywhere obvious for it to go and I can't find it in the Haynes manual or in this forum or googling.

Many thanks in advance

Nick

If it's the cabin one, I believe it goes up into the small square panel in the centre of the dash by the windscreen.

There are other temp sensors located in the air ducts though, so it may be one of those. They are known to come loose / fall out.

Does your car have Climatronic Control? If so, the interior temperature sensor is just below the top row of buttons. The Owners Manual warns not to glue or cover over that sensor otherwise it could have an unfavourable effect on Climatronic.

I stand corrected.

What's the one on top in front of the dash top box?

Sun light sensor so the claimtronic can take bright sunlight into account.

A good find, that. :)

Brilliant - thank you all, that was the sensor I was talking about - took me and hour to fight the Chinese head unit into the dash with all the ancilliary connectors etc... Looks like there's a rematch scheduled..

Many thanks again for your replies, sorry I couldn't find the threads you chaps found first!

Don't forget to remove the top box to aid you in seeing what you are doing

+1 and you might be able to do it without taking out the HU if you remove the top box.

I was able to fit it without removing the stereo, it's for the temp to the air vent, it twist locks in.... Very poorly at that, Mike's tip about a bit of silicone works i used it with mine.
