Does this seem dodgy?

Featured Replies

Looking for a fabia VRS and found this SE version with 78k on for £3200.

Its on Gumtree but the phone number is not complete and the email address is included in the Photos.

I did a google search on the email [email protected] and it brings back loads of cars all over the place. You can view them using the cached option.

Seems real dodgy to me. The se number is 91 and that is listed in the SE owners register!

Dodgy foreign scam artist if you ask me.

Lot of it about, they'll tell you how they are not in the UK

and will need to pay a delivery agent to bring the car to you for a trial.

Avoid avoid avoid. But you could have some fun with the 'seller' and

wind them up a bit and let them think they have a bite.

See this thread from another forum I use for a few ideas.

cheers for that thought so. ill keep looking then.

Proper dodgy, make a new email address and keep letting him down by making him think that you are interested. Half the time the cars are cheap, this way they can make a point of saying that at that price it has to be cash only. You turn up to meet them because they never live any where near any body. At this point you think that you are buying a car, they just KNOW that you are turning up somewhere with some cash. I think you can work the rest out.

Strangely enough that's not how this scam is normally played out as it's high risk, it's easier to get a deposit paid by WU and save the agro.

It's a scam, 100%

Autotrader is full of these, no phone numbers to contact the seller, no viewings, just an email address to pay a "deposit"

Cars are usually stolen and the pics on the ad will be taken off another website

A bit of research on the Gumtree ad leads me to this website - http://all-skoda.info/

Yeah seen one of these myself on pistonheads regarding a se. The 'scammer' claimed she was in Spain and needed to sell the se quickly hence the cheap price. Apparently I had to bank transfer into a 'piston heads mutual' account and then the car would be delivered to me and I could test it out and if not up to my standards it would be collected and my money refunded.

I asked for a test drive and she declined saying that no one would be available for this as the car was with someone from 'pistonheads'. I laughed and reported them :)

who's going to hand over 4 figures without even seeing a car first? Maybe some mug will but if you have any common sense then you wouldn't.

send them an email with yoir phone number and i garantee you will get a text or email asking for your details to contat them ..

bmx x5's

m3's

scoobies are all being used for this stay clear i have reported it once to gumtree they just dont give a toss tho
