Hello All,

I have just fitted the Columbus into my 07FL Octavia and am now adding bluetooth but need a bit of advice as to where to position the module, microphone and the routing of the looms.The module is 7P6 035 730J .As always any advice would be very much appreciated.

Some have placed the module behind the ac panel as there is plenty of room and it is easier. I put mine under passenger seat but that was a little fiddly as the wire is run under the plastic trim under the door.

The microphone runs up the a pillar and across the headlining to the interior light. I started at the light and fed the mic wire to the top of a pillar with a piece of green garden wire. With the a pillar trim off and glovebox off it was all very easy to run it back to the loom. Use occasional cable ties to keep it tidy.

Just be careful with the airbag in the a pillar if relevant. And when screwing the interior light back in be wary of screwing back through mic wire causing a short doh!!!

Unless you have OCD, I'd put it under the passenger seat. Easier to get to than the drivers side (the 'official' location).

Or, as Adam says, behind the A/C controls there is reported to be space, but you'll need to cut the tabs off the plactic BT box.

You won't fit the 'official' pre-FL style BT box in there though...

Under the seat it goes then.I have noticed an electronics box under the drivers seat with nothing plugged into it. Any ideas what this could be ? Its an 07 octavia elegance.

I have one of these too and not really the wiser myself. My suspicion is that it is some kind of old wired phone preparation (i.e. pre bluetooth). There was certainly something mentioned in my handbook (9W5 on the sticker in the service book). It meant I was forced down the 'under the passenger seat' route, but I'm glad I was, as even without the strange box, it would have been a greater ballache to get the wiring under the drivers seat!

Velcro'd it to the carpet

I have two spare foam blocks for the BT module to go under seat if anyone wants to buy one off me!

One new & one used.
