Featured Replies

Nick Im pretty sure from looking that, they have rotated it to the right too much, can you loosen the bolts into the ASV, rotate it back and then retighten?

  • Interesting. I've never spotted any issues with fitment on the BKD. You got a photo to illustrate, out of interest?

  • Will take one

  • Just to follow up on the subject of the EGR delete fitment on the PD170. I asked DS about it and they said it should be the same as stock. I took the car in for an oil change there this morning and th

you mean need to release the clip for the intercooler pipe too btw

It's not adjustable. I can't quite figure it out. I can only think that the orientation / position of the bottom mounting surface is slightly different relative to the top mounting surface, compared to the OEM egr valve?

That looks like the bottom flange is at a slightly different angle.....

What happens if you undo it all, rotate the delete pipe 120 or 240 degrees, can you get the ASV to line up as per oem?

thats what I was thinking but I guess its a no.....

Yep, just cos the sticker is there doesn't mean it is the front......

Just been and checked mine on a PD140 and it does look different.

I'll get a photo in 10 mins or so

Look forward to seeing the photo.

Although, looking again, I can't see how you can rotate it as it only seems to fit one way. Looks like the PD140 manifold is different in terms of the angle.

Cheers Andy. Would you say you don't feel it's made the oil filter harder to change on the PD140?

Not that I've noticed, at least that damn pipe is out of the way.

If you look at the clip on the intercooler pipe mine is at about 7 o'clock, which rotates the ASV away from the oil filter.

I compared it to the EGR valve I removed and fro memory it was similar dimensions etc.

I know darkside were out of stock for a while before I got mine, rumour was that the design was revised slightly.

Have you spoken to them about your issue?

I didn't get a sticker with mine :-(

I'll do a photo from mine tomorrow for you as well, just to compare. Pretty sure the BKD manifold is different as you say Andy, so it might not help you that much in the end Nick, but worth a shot.

I can't see how it would have been able to fit it incorrectly, as from memory it looked to only be possible to fit one-way.

Out of interest, how long is your delete pipe?

68mm

The B12 and superpro combination is very good on a PD140.

Another option for EGR deletes are Allards

http://www.allardalu...elete-kits.html

Not all kits are listed as the web site never keeps up so if your car isnt listed & you are interested give them a call

Ive used them for some one off intercoolers & their quality is exceptional.

For those of you with longer memories you will remeber Lloyd Allard campaigning a very quick Diesel Golf in the VW cup so he knows a thing or 2 about getting Diesels to go rather quickly

Interestingly - the Alard version is 100mm long, vs my 68mm one...

That extra length would be enough to give the required clearance for the oil filter.

Does the Allard one replace the ASV as well?

I seem to remember some members jade major issues with Allard over EGR delete pipes a year or two ago.

68mm

Same here, I measured at 70mm.

100mm would take out the ASV as well.

No it doesn't, the pic of the 100mm Allard has an ASV on it:

Can someone measure their standard EGR valve on a PD140 or 170 please? I'm betting it's closer to 100mm than 70.

Wouldn't touch the Allard one with a barge pole.

Put it this way, I had the Allard one to start with. I now have the Darkside one.

Their Customer Service is also appalling, as I found.
