Remapping a high miler superb, Yay or Nay?

Featured Replies

My 1.9 Tdi 130 is about to turn the 200K dial next month. Never gave me a min trouble apart from a leak in the intake pipe and the usual window cable ( 4 ) that I read so often about. As I want it to have a peaceful few years before retirement would you recommend I stay away from ECU retuners? I don't want to drive the ring out of the car and not even interested in more power. Most of the time I use Cruise-Resume to do my acceleration. But I read that you can get better MPG in normal driving conditions with a retune ( which is nice ) and your engine also idles better and runs better in cold starts etc

I don't buy into the BS I see spun on all the retuning websites, 30% more this 20% more that. I place far more value on what I read on sites like this from you guys so any one got any opinions on this?

If it's done 200k and is still doing you a good turn, I think I'd touch wood, spin around three times, say a few hail Mary's and leave well alone.

If it ain't broke....

Gaz

As above, leave well alone - I think the turbo would have a fit.

And heres me running 200+ bhp on a near 170,000 mile engine :D

engine should be alright its the clutch and turbo you have to watch.

Could always map it and if anything seems a miss put it back to standard. I personally wouldnt though.

Well that answers that. Sounds like it would be similar to over clocking me Grandads pace maker. He might have a pep in his step for a while but it won't last

As your in ireland is that 200,000km or 200,000 miles? Mind you if it was mine id still leave it as standard.

200000 miles is impressive. Dont stress the old girl out. Leave her alone!
