for legal reasons and your defense i know you mean KPH  not mph :giggle: you wouldn't want to post anything that could be used against you by your insurance or any motoring organisation who may think having fun in your car illegal

Gotta get those bloody clocks changed over!

I can't agree more. I did over 200 miles today in the FRV. The 2.2 diesel engine has a lovely surge of torque and it's all over by 4k rpm. :@

Good on yer Scott for taking the plunge. I remember my first drive after the RS tuning map and I was the same as you- grinning from ear to ear. All you need to do now is get it to go round corners properly. :D

On the m62 through the penines today around some of the sweeping bends it does get a little twitchy I noticed! Just love how usable the power is now!!! :)

Always wondered what would they do if there was a problem like a leaky vacuum hose / faulty n75 or something that you didn't know about when you take it down there?

Do the guys fix it for you there and then, because I assume mapping would be a problem if not running right, so do they keep stock of spares or have a dealer nearby?

Only wondering because wouldn't want to risk a 2 hour trip home if somethine was amiss with my car that i didn't realise

They do ask you to check as much as you can yourself before going to them. They use the garage next door (Dynodaze) if need be and there are local parts shops if totally necessary, they do their best to look after you :)

There were two TPS deliveries in the time I was there, so I doubt it would be a problem if any minor leaks or things

Was there any reason you opted not to use Shark, Scott ?

We're in the same area, same car and considering the same level of 'improvement'.

I also know your car :hi: as I sold it to you !

Glad you are enjoying it Scott, how are you ?

Do you remember I said at the time that I had a soft spot for these cars and would have seriously bought it from the dealership if you hadn't ? Which to be fair probably sounded like sales BS at the time but honestly what a superb cherished example you bought.....

Well, I could resist no longer and got one just a few weeks after dealing with you.

Drop me a PM if you like

Cheers, Mark C.

Jase, I have noticed on my graph a bit of a drop in power at 3.5k which is the same on yours but less so. What could this be? Can't say I feel it though when I'm driving.

it's just different turbo's. although effectively same turbo ie k03s they will react slightly different with age. Prime example is the 2.5v6 lump of a Vauxhall vectra, same engine made in same factory yet produce different amounts of torque and bhp. standard sri v6 was 167bhp and just under 200ft/lb,mine produced 183.4bhp and 219-220ft/lb but standard. almost GSI territory for it.

Hi mark! Small world mate! I didn't think u were serious about them, got to be honest with you there- (been there done that lol) what colour did u get in the end?

Not had any problems with it too so dead happy with it.

I chose r-tech because I went on the website after viewing some threads on here and all the feedback was top notch, couldn't find a bad word said about them, and judging by people on here I think r-tech and shark are probably the two most reputable mappers for these cars. I don't think there is much difference in it to be honest, but I suppose Mansfield(shark) is a bit closer than Hinckley (r-tech)

I can't really comment on shark but r-tech are absolutely spot on and their map has totally changed the car- it should've been like this out of the box!

Hi Scott, sounds like you've been bitten by the bug !

Seem to have sold a few Skodas lately.....I sold a rather nice Fabia VRs a week after I saw you, and we have a particularly special 11 plate Octavia VRs in Race blue in currently with just 16k and FSH.....if my budget would only stretch.......

We bought a silver '54 plate - its really for Helen as I hardly drive anything other than my company V40, but must admit theres nothing like switching cars when I get in and going for a proper hoon to unwind.

On day one we fitted new tyres all round then decided that with THIS car the mods would be limited.

I'm going RARB, S3 Strut Brace, quickshift, Forge DV, Induction kit, Remap and quite probably brakes......

The WRC at Hortons was once their demo and is now back with them, destickered and parked on their hill facing the A46, apparently NOT for sale, is part of Oliver Hortons personal collection, but was £3995. Clean car.

Good luck with the car and would be great to see you again (will you use Hortons for servicing ?) for a coffee at our dealership.

Cheers,

Mark.

The rarb is something I'd be quite keen on, and the s3 braces are cheap as chips. Want to keep mine as standard looking as possible, probably just a couple of suspension upgrades to make it handle better.

Well I'm getting it serviced (again!) in about 1500miles but I was going to use an Audi specialist in Crowle that I know of to do it, but then again u can't beat a main dealer stamp in the book for peace of mind! So in a couple of months (or less) il prob pop in and see how you're getting on mate.
