Agree with both those posts - definitely clinical, but definitely suit the car. It looks ace in there now!

  • One tip, run the heated mirrors for 10 minutes first to soften the plastic clips so the mirror glass pops off without too much force

Nah, quite easy.

From memory, you pop the mirror out, disconnect the heated wires to get the glass out the way, remove the screws which hold the motor in and anything else and pop the bottom out. Can't remember exactly, but I worked it out just by looking at it once the mirror glass was out, not that difficult.

Cheers for that pal

Got all of mine from Fizzmo too, bit of trial and error regarding sizes but ive replaced boot lights, numberplate lights and interior lights... all look brilliant and much brighter than normal, all for the grand some of about 10 quid..

make sure you check the sizes though as all the advice i got off this website turned out to be ****e and had to order again due to being advised the wrong sizes!!!

If doing the puddle lights it is easier just to take the top cover off the mirror - no need to remove glass or screws. With the top cover off you can just untwist the puddle light holder and withdraw from the housing to change the bulb.

Managed to mess the glove box light up though, so I might need a bit of assistance putting it back together correctly!

Worth remembering that the glove box lamp lens has the on/off switch for the light attached to the bottom of it....

Same here with the sizes. Manual just says c5w etc but there's loads of different sizes. When i get a chance I'll measure everything i removed. Not got pics yet - car in bodyshop :)

These are the LED types required for an Octavia Elegance estate:

Map lights (front x 2), boot lights x2 , puddle lights x 2: W5W Capless x 6 Ebay item no: 120897660499 (x4) & 300697145148 (x2)

Courtesy Lights (front & rear) 42mm C5W x 2 Ebay item no: 300708796431

Number Plate Lights: 38mm C5W Canbus x2 Ebay item no: 120911058507

Glove Box Light: 31mm C5W x1 Ebay item no: 290626716615

A further hint - which temporarily fooled me this afternoon - if testing the puddle lights in daylight you will need to cover the light sensor on the windscreen to make them switch on :whew:
