vRS Xenon Bulbs

what I'm not sure about though is if the plastic lugs holding the cover will stand the abuse if it's removed more times over it's life than it's designed for.

The cover for my right side highbeam bulb snapped off a couple of weeks ago, completely by itself. I got a warning for the cornering lights while I was in the car wash. Popped the hood and noticed the cover was dangling in its wires. I guess water got into the electrics.

I had to have the entire headlight replaced. Thankfully it was covered by warranty.

The bulbs will last at least 10years so pointless carrying spares. Just take a normal bulb kit and you'll be fine. Do you carry spare dash lights too?

How much is a bulb fine anyway? I can't find it online.

I only ask as, back when you used to need a breathalyser, the potential fine was only €11 so I used to not bother on the basis that these things cost almost as much as the fine and normally expire after about a year.

Is it a legal requirement to carry spare dash light bulbs when driving in France?

Don't know, does it specify that you need to carry spare hid bulbs which do not blow like filament bulbs

Also like to note that the eu kit I bought last year for driving to Germany doesn't contain a number plate bulb kit.

I'm guessing trying to argue the life benefits of a xenon bulb at the side of the motorway to a French policeman is more hassle than carrying a spare bulb.

Xenon or halogen, they both fall under 'spare headlight bulb'.

Looking at the genuine Skoda spare bulb kit for xenon equipped cars I don't think I can see a D1S bulb. The price also suggests that there isn't one in the kit? I'm guessing this is because Skoda do not advise us to replace xenon bulbs, unsuprisingly they recommend a dealer does it...

The 1st trip abroad in the VRs is over and what a trip it was. I did get bulbs but that's boring so I won't talk about that again.

After v early starts, driving to the other side of Belgium to Spa-Franchorcamps & many places on the way back my decision to buy a Skoda has been more than rewarding

Many admiring looks in Belgium and France, even if some of the admirers were a little close for comfort (especially in Belgium) doing a steady 80 on the inside lane or whilst overtaking some drivers get so close you can't see their headlights  a light touch of the accelerator saw them off :hi::rock:
