  • Just had a stage 1 map from fabooka on here. Went for a high torque map with launch control, left foot braking and egr delete and it is awesome. Should of done it months ago. Also got another map I ca

  • I will do that tomorrow and hopefully that fabia at the scrapyard will be the same, I should of looked what year it was but I was too busy looking at the TT next to it with red leathers in for dan lol

  • Got my boost pipe off of niceyellowvrs and fitted it last night. Had a job to do in Birmingham today and what a pleasure it was to drive! I can't believe how much power I'd lost through the boost leak

Coming along nice bud..!  Makes me want to get mine mapped all the sooner..

How does the launch control work on your map..? I met someone with it on a Leon Cupra but never got to asking him about it..

There's not much more I want to do to it really, going to do the grill black and fly eye the lights like yours and that's it. Might do a fmic if I can get a cheap one.

Launch control is where the car won't rev past 2300rpm in neutral and it holds about 0.5bar boost then you just let the clutch out and until you go over a certain mph it should stay at the 2300rpm. Doesn't work in the wet!!

whats this left foot braking lark on the map?

Loving the car mate. It's really nice. Seats are lush, I cant wait for John to do my MAP hearing how pleased you are. I messaged him straight away after you started the thread saying thanks.

Did you decat the car with a new downpipe? or get it chopped out and a straight pipe welded in place?

When your driving along if you press the brakes to bed in the pads for example it will cut the throttle after a few seconds, this stops the power being cut. I'd never use it but some people can left foot brake.

Thanks there not much left I want to do, colour code the grill and tint the lights then just a lcr splitter and that will do me really. The seats are really comfy and alot better than the light grey standard seats!

I love the map on it I've not even switched to the lower torque map and I don't think I will lol. I just cut the cat out and welded abit of pipe in, did the same with my tip too just welded some straight pipe on to the exhaust and welded the tip on

Sounds good mate. I have some leathers to go in, collecting them this weekend, i hope they're comfy!

Im planning to decat the car by cutting out the cat and welding in a straight pipe. How did you manage to do it mate? I tried to give it a go the other day but the exhaust bracket was in the way of the grinder and so couldnt get the disc to sit on the pipe to be able to cut it.

Did you undo the downpipe or did you do it on the car like I was trying to?

Once again ... lovely car mate

What leathers are you putting in? Mine are really comfy but seat surgeons put all new foam in so they're like new seats. I don't think many people realise they're not standard unless your clued up on the fabias which I like.

Used a hacksaw to get through it and then twisted the cat to break the bit of metal at the top I hadn't cut if that makes sense? Sod unbolting the downpipe!! When are you getting it mapped? I spent months researching maps and £ for £ John was the way to go, I was in the trade for 10 years and have owned lots of performance cars and driven lots and I'm still amazed at the map and for the price. Not driven a shark mapped car but would imagine it to be very similar to Johns. Today was the first day the wife drove it since the remap and she doesn't drive them fast and she said it just took off lol. When we had the RS turbo she had to ask me how to get the dump valve to work bless her that's how slow she potters about!!

Well my car is already mapped with a pd150 hybrid turbo in also.. so its quite nippy :P

But it's detuned because I don't have a FMIC or a performance clutch.

That sounds like a good idea... I'm 100% getting that mother Ducking cat out tomorrow!

Cant wait to get john to map the car. It's all going to be done via email, as he's so far away, so I just need to buy the cable to give him the data and to upload the map.

Spent the day doing some maintenance on the car. The nsr handbrake kept sticking on within days of being freed off so I went to the scrapyard and got some return springs off a galaxy. He didn't charge me for them either which was good of him :)

Brake pedal is a lot firmer and it now rolls freely on a hill and the handbrake holds and feels nice to pull on. A happy bunny.

Next I got the bumper and os headlight out then set about cable tieing the boost pipes so they make a tighter seal.

The only join I haven't done is the one to the actual turbo. It's less whistley now when driving and also my trip computer seems to be reading better now. It started reading really low after if disturbed a pipe but only done a quick run in it. Feels to pull better too.

Next was the windows. They've stopped working all together, all the switches don't do anything and using the key in the door doesn't work the windows. I replaced the fuses even though they were ok as I read sometimes it fixes them. It didn't lol. I've now got the drivers switch panel in the house on the radiator to see if it's got damp as this seems to be another cause. If that doesn't cure it I'm gunna have to get a new switch and try that I think

Drivers side window motor i think mate. Same happened to mine, replaced it and all good.

I've been reading some of the window threads and thought it would be that :( are the vrs motors different to a normal fabia motor?? I saw a standard fabia up the scrapyard but didn't actually look to see if it has electric windows but if it has I'll get that motor if it's the same

Its the age that is the difference they had two motors. Mine is from a non vrs just the correct age. The plugs where different between them so not interchangeable. Pretty easy job aswell, i didnt even remove all the door card just squeezed my arm in there. You should be able to remove the door card and see the plug and part number. You could remove and take it to the scrappy with you but the window drops slightly so its if you want to drive about with your window wedged or taped up.

Both windows stopped working at the same time? That is odd.

Just realised I follow you on Instagram.

It's a right pain too I made the car too hot yesterday then ended up cooking myself cos I couldn't open a window lol. Yes you do mate

If both windows stop at same time and the electric mirrors still work it is going to be the drivers window motor. If the mirrors stop aswell its the comfort module. Im betting the mirrors still work though ;)

  • Author

Yeah the mirrors still work. What year did the window motors swap over? I bet it was on my year! I take it the motor is separate to the regulator on these then?

Hmm possibly, you are on the swap over year for somethings. I could not tell you for sure though sorry mate.

  • Author

It will be just to spite me!! I'll take the door card off tomorrow and have a look at the plug. Cheers Joe

You should be able to see the part numbers aswell. I stuck my phone in and took a pic lol.

Finally got round to doing the grill. Got some vinyl wrap from b&q for £8. Abit diddly to do and it's not 100% if you really examine it but I'm going to practise on my spare vents and gear lever surround and I'll redo as I've got loads left.

Just need a new badge now, what size are the fronts? Going for the same badge just to be different as everyone goes new style now.

Looks good Kyle, the badges are 80mm.

Cheers Dan I will have to get one soon. I'm thinking the lights need tinting all round now.

I've got the clear part on my rear ones tinted with vinyl, will spray it soon for a better finish.

The fronts I've just got the painted inserts :)
