Featured Replies

A well known site sponsor has just got a sub 12 sec 1/4 mile in a 1.9 Seat Ibiza. Crossed the line at in excess of 125mph!

Wowzers

their dyno run for that car looked pretty good yesterday too just a tad under 400bhp on nos

great times fairplay. love how a guy said an 11sec ibiza in the comments, tad closer to 12 ide say :D

Awesome!

oh wait its over 300bhp on that graph and over by abit ;) .........its a lie its all lies it has to be!

I've still yet to find if that Ibiza is running the same turbo as me or a different hybrid :D Gives me some hope though. :D

Very impressive. :)

Drag times are always quoted on the seconds with the decimal places knocked off when quoting what seconds the car can run in general.

So it actually is "An 11 second car" as it's got into the 11s.

It's broken through the 12 barrier, in the eyes of those who follow drag racing.

well that just throws everything i learnt in maths out the window!

It's hardly a new concept. My birthday is September 28th. On September 29th 2012, I was 30. On September 27th 2013, I will be 30. This car did the quarter mile in under 12 seconds, therefore it's "an 11 second car".

I do have the (still refining the setup) GTB2566VK turbo, but I vaguely remember something about a hybrid VKLR turbo (ball bearing) so I am not sure which one it was running today.

Yeah Jason it's a vklr ball bearing wattercooled but he doesn't wattercool it not sure how it got past it but he did

Don't believe it's a hybried turbo so I still believe your onto sumthing fairly new for the hybrid

Awesome

Bit pointless there. Just saying you get taught to round up i dont know anything about drag racing but thought if itmwas that close it would be 12, if it was 11.59am and someone said whats the time you wouldnt say 11. Just saying thats all.

This is the logical approach to anyone with a vague knowledge of maths, but that's how the drag strip thing works. I'm not sure if I squeezed an 11.99 out of mine I would call it an 11 second car (might do for bragging rights) but I would just call it a 12 second dead car.

I think it's because generally you count up.

But in terms of drag racing they are trying to go quicker and quicker, getting the times down.

So it kind of works the other way round. :)

Well that's my idea of the logic anyway! :D

That Ibiza has come a long long way since my friend owned it in 2009 with his dodgy smoky remap :)
