Black Mountain Run

Featured Replies

Was just wondering if anyone would be up for this?

Obviously an Admin would have to arrange but has anybody done this run before? Its not a bad day out if you get the right weather!!

Done it previously with Cliosport.net and had great fun. We could meet in Merthyr Retail Park ( By Pizza Hut) and then convoy up to the black mountains etc.. All in all takes around 2-3 hours to drive depeding on the way you drive.

Would be a great chance for me too meet some of the other welshies on here.

Any thoughts?

Possibly, all depends on the date....

That looked brilliant Karl :) I don't suppose you know what spoiler busy being born had do you? Looks cool

I might be up for this may stay over.

I'd be up for this but can't do the Sunday after Combe.

It was on the car when he bought it, but I believe it is from SuperSkoda http://www.superskod...ia-semi-rc-wing

Good man, but it would be more driving orientated rather than the social get together that Waplord did last year.

I'd be up for this but can't do the Sunday after Combe.

Will have to see after Combe what dates people can do - so normally a Saturday or Sunday with hopefully good weather.

Cheers Karl.

I'm free most weekends, unless seeing family but then if it's a Saturday and i'm in the West Mids, i'm sure family won't mind me driving down for this. :)

Personally, i would prefer a Saturday so i'm not heading home too late on the Sunday with work the next day. I'll watch and see what happens. :)

Glad to see a few people interested!! Once Castle Combe is over maybe an Admin could arrange something? Arrange the finer details etc.

Depending on weather it can be a very good day out!! And if anyone knows of any other routes that way we could try some of those out too.

Hi Keechy,

These sort of trips are normally organised by 'ordinary' members. Myself and others have done routes like this before.

The last one covered quite a few interesting roads up as far as Builth Wells and even incorporates some forestry roads (Legal)

Bit of text from my last trip.

The route will be approximately 150 miles long taking about 4 hours in total driving (plus stops). Start and end will be at Sarn Services just off the M4. The route will take us over the heads of the valleys with lovely sweeping horseshoe bends, long climbs hugging the side of the valleys, fast downhill sections, past some lovely reservoirs, through a fire ring range, though one of the best valley singe track roads, into Forestry Commission land, around a large picturesque reservoir and finally driving through the Black Mountains on one of the best driving roads in the UK (as seen on Top Gear and 5th Gear).

There are two Travel lodges near to the start and a local pub for an evening meal for anyone who is interested and we will source a local spot in the middle of the route for lunch.

If you would like more info of the route let me know

Karl

i would be up for this, chuck some dates around so i can book off in work if working on that day, be good to see some local folk on briskoda. i'll keep my eyes peeled for dates. :peek:

Keeping an eye on this one.

What days would be best for everyone. I don't work weekends so can do either a Saturday or Sunday.

We should try and get it arranged for around end of May start of June?

What would everyone like to do. The black mountains only or the 150 mile round trip that Korban mentioned? I'm up for both either way. Think we should take this opportunity to get some provisional names down for now so we can get an idea of numbers? We can then arrange the finer details when we have a better idea of what the majority wants to do.

Put your name and state which run you would like to do.

A few names down already, not too bad so far. So the everyone doesn't mind which run we do. So I was thinking if we do the longer one as it will be a longer run out and as Korban has said the black mountains is less than 10 mins by the time we get there.

vRS19TD can only do a Saturday so should we arrange it for a Saturday so everyone can go?

Will start a thread soon with more details about the run etc..

Obviously we have Castle Combe coming soon, not sure how many of you are going so do you want to arrange it after this? Maybe get it done before the national meet so we get a chance to meet (for us who have never met any of you) before we all travel up together.

Don't worry if everyone would prefer Sunday, i'll see the dates and see if i can get the Monday off work.

I'll be at Combe.

Im easy with sat or sunday myself.

Any more interest guys?

I'm currently talking to Korban on some finer details and then a date will be set and a separate thread will be made. We will be doing the 150 mile trip because no one minded which we did. This will include some of the best welsh roads and will be a very good day out!!

Details on meeting points etc will be posted in the new thread.

Lets try and get a good turn out for this guys. Maybe we can start some regular meets then. Got a few ideas for future meets including a karting meet.
