First time doing this ...

Featured Replies

I’ve never had a car this nice before, so I’m going to try to keep it that way. I’m not aiming for a show-car result, just clean and shiny, and I’m not a product snob, so I’ve decided to use AG for everything, on the basis that their products should at least complement each other. This is my plan:

2-bucket shampoo

HD cleanser

WD40 on any remaining tar spots

SRP

EGP

HDW

A few questions:

1. I know I should leave 24hrs between EGP and HDW, but do I need to leave times between any of the other stages?

2. Conversely, if I do leave 24hrs between the other stages (which I probably shall), should I re-shampoo in between, or just wipe over with a MF cloth? (The car will be garaged.)

3. Would any stage benefit from a dual application?

4. I’ve bought some Aqua Wax too, for future use. Is there any point in giving a final shampoo and aqua wax after the HDW, or will the wash just start to break down the HDW?

5. I don’t have a high annual mileage, and the car is garaged, so I’m hoping I won’t have to strip back and re-do more than once a year. In the meantime, will I get away with just HD waxing every few months? I presume the polish and sealant shouldn’t be reapplied without removing any remaining wax first.

Thanks.

You can wax almost straight away after AGSRP

2. Conversely, if I do leave 24hrs between the other stages (which I probably shall), should I re-shampoo in between, or just wipe over with a MF cloth? (The car will be garaged.) Wipe with a damp cloth if theres some dust

3. Would any stage benefit from a dual application? You can layer AGHDW after an hour or more

4. I’ve bought some Aqua Wax too, for future use. Is there any point in giving a final shampoo and aqua wax after the HDW, or will the wash just start to break down the HDW? Each wash use some AGAW as a wax refresher..After a couple of months reapply a coat of AGHDW

Thanks.

Thanks, Chris, that's very helpful. I bought the SRP and EGP as a bundle, so I have both. Is it damaging to use both EGP and HDW, or just of no benefit? I'd assumed from what little I've read that the EGP sealant would (a) give depth below the HDW's gloss, and (B) protect the SRP once the wax began to wear off. I'm quite happy to wait 24 hours between the two if it means doing a better job.

You can use it but the AGSRP in all in one product anyway

AGEGP is poor in terms of durability so no point putting it between SRP and HDW...Autoglym will tell you that too

I dont rate Autoglym...old school products which are slowly adapting to more modern application techniques and products

Have a look here:
