Yeah it was horrible yesterday. When you were walking round all you could feel was the sand in your eyes and mouth between your teeth. I was hanging off the door of the block trying to close it after being to the gym (thought that the handle was going to come off lol). Some of the lads were saying that there was so much sand flying round that in places you couldn't see past the end of you bonnet. On camp you couldn't see more than 150 metres ahead of yourself which ment that there was no flying yesterday and it was so windy that you couldn't cycle into the wind so i got a nice early finish last night because the planes couldn't break

It will be interesting then when the sun comes out and people look through their windscreens when driving.

I have had to replace 2 screens from living very near a sand quarry, when the wind lifts the sand and blows it hard up the street, the screen can be ruined in just a few hours.

The worst was on a Hyundai i30, and a Toyota iQ front screen.

I never thought about the glass in the car but i hate to think what it may have done to the paintwork. Then again my car is filthy after going mountain biking at the weekend so hopefully the dirt on it has protected the paintwork.

Yeah drove all the way up the A96 through them, horrendous, couldnt see anything infront of you in places.Thank god i was in a hire car so the noise of all the small debris hitting the side wasnt too unbearable !!!

Tell me about about it, I've had to cover the cars at work and there in a garage. The sand is getting in through places you would never think it would or could.

The rain that we have had washed a fair bit of the dust off it. There was even mud on the roof from when i had the mountain bike on it Theres also quite a few bird poos on it as well that i need to wash off.

On another note has anyone seen the amount of sand on the cycle/foot path next to the road you take off the a941 to go to raf lossie. Its about 2.5 feet deep in places

that wind the other day was terrible i got out the car to help someone in with their shopping and my bloody baseball hat blew off the second i got out the car so had to run half way down the street to get it, unbelievable and the other night aswell it was that strong it set the car alarm off, thank god its calmed down

No mate. When i was up at 617 ops i asked about getting some and they told me to go to timpsons in elgin and they would knock some up for me. It cost 11 quid Good job i can claim it back through jpa. Tell any of your lads that need them for the det to get them made at timpsons and claim it back.

I have heard that but since i then i heard that we might not be allowed off camp which would suck. I think that it will be a case of turn up and see like it is most of the time.

If we do get the 6 days off i was told that you can't be out after 2359 hours or it will cost you 2 days
