Hi can anyone tell me how to check / update the firmware on my Columbus sat nav?

Apparently you press and hold "set up" for 20 seconds. It doesn't work on mine. All I get is a screen with -

FM, AM & DAB on it  :(

Only if the secret menu is enabled. Failing that a VCDS scan or pull out the unit and check the label for a four digit sw number. Remove the trim with a plastic trim tool and then remove four torx screws and out it slides...

A vcds scan will pick up if there has been an update since it was fitted where clearly the label won't.

I only read the end of your other thread now (free software upgrade) and I see what you mean.....that offer is misleading alright

My Columbus unit doesn't show the hidden menu but just the AM/FM menu etc.... I've seen mention of the info being accessible by taking the unit out and also via using vcds.... By this is this the option within vcds to enable the Hidden menu on Columbus option???

 

I'm having someone enable my footwell lights tomorrow so will have it connected to vcds.... Should we enable the Columbus hidden menu option via vcds while we're at it???

 

 

Thinking it'll save having to open up the dashboard and get the unit out etc....
